Crazy Gym Goers

Guys...I have been competitively lifting for a while now. I have seen some pretty interesting stuff. I've seen a guy max out a cable machine so he can suspend from it and walk his feet up it to flip backwards. I have watched a man do arm curls on a leg machine. And yes...yes I have seen someone use a smith machine as a leg press. What is the craziest/funniest thing you have seen at the gym?

My all time favorite is the casual gym goer sipping on a starbucks iced coffee while lifting...

Just today I saw some like 14 year old kids doing leg raises. While one was doing the leg raises, the other would be punching the other in the stomach with a bit of force. It was even funnier than the time i saw a group of 4 dudes doing curls with the smith machine.

 

There's this guy at my Gym, let's call him Mr. Yololifter. On the Hammer-strength chestpress he presses 5 plates on eachside, but his form...Owh god. One day he asked me for help, to spot him and I was watching him. I don't understand that he hasn't been to snapcity yet. Damnnn his form was so shitty I felt my shoulders snapping all the way, and I am just standing there! Mr. YoloLifter f*cking idiottttttttttt

Stupidest thing I have seen is a guy maxing on bench and unracking and re reacking.........

 

Oh Oh Oh I have more.
The guys who lift with the high altitude simulation masks when I know they are neither a professional athlete or fighter lol. Cracks me up because we all know they are doing it because they think it makes them look badass.
Lately there's been a guy going to my gym lifting with a mouth guard....that I don't get...

 

Lmaoooooo mouthguard does the guy think hes going to get in a fight?
But yeah those masks look badass but not everyone should wear them.

 

Probably worst I've seen is when people use machines wrong and "exercise" from momentum rather than through resistance training - I just home gym though so I'm not exposed to much of the malarkey that goes on in the zoo that is public gyms

 

Oh god, the craziest thing I've seen is a guy kneeling on a yoga ball while military pressing two 100lb dumbbells.

 

What on earth...I mean to give him credit that was probably pretty difficult

 

Well thats stupid , everyone have to learn and how they can learn when everyone only laughing lol.

 

Going to gym with mouthguard MAYbe he was willing to fight someone overpumped.

 

Can't stand people who read books while walking on the treadmill..

I only stay out of the gym during January. I have p90x3 for those days.

 

I think the new years rush is a myth.

It's the 18th now I imagine things have about cleared out lol

 

dumbest shit ive seen was a lady using a smith machine as a leg press, and a lady doing these wierd side step hip rotation on a treadmill, imagine a penguin walking but with a wider step and doing a full 180 degree turn of the body with each step.

 

there's a girl at my gym who walks in, changes for 10 minutes, walks around the gym sitting on things taking selfies in different angles, changes again (another 10 minutes) and leaves. i see her about once every two weeks, and she's probably 50 lbs overweight but dresses like she's 20 lbs under. not a pretty sight

 

pretty common sight you get used to it, the worst ones are the overweight PTA house moms club ladies that come with full gym gear and stroll on the treadmill for 30 mins and leave

 

Maybe its just my area.


Also the gym I frequent isint the largest and I go usually go during a peak time (4-5PM) as that's generally when I get off of work, the commute from work > home is 30 minutes

 

Not at my gym that's for sure, the no money down signups bring them all in. They're usually gone after a month for sure, but for the month of January you get to see all kinds of stupid crap.

Serious pet peeve of mine is guys that drop weights obnoxiously. Not necessarily when doing deadlifts, but anything really. A specific guy would finish curling a 45lb EZ bar and just drop it...like wtf dude. Pretty sure his membership was revoked though because he's a huge creep.

 

I have to say the funniest thing I've seen at the gym was this younger-teenager coming in, with his muscle shirt on etc.. Going straight to the dumbbells and begin curling, after each set, he would pull out this little comb to fix his hair and make sure it was going to the side.. Was hard not to laugh seeing that.
