Chargeback database, gold sellers interested?

I am considering making a chargeback database where major gold sellers are given access to submit information about fraudsters and chargebacks.

There would be an easy way to submit the chargeback's information (and as well, even an API for it).
Additionally, there will be a neat and easy way to filter out chargeback information by a simple email/first & last name search.
Not only that, I also plan to make an API so programmers can implement a custom fraud check in their checkout system.

Only reputable gold sellers/service providers are allowed to submit chargeback information (so information is kept reliable), but the public should be able to view the information to help make Sythe a safer trading environment.

Now the question is, is there a decent amount of reputable gold sellers / service providers willing to participate to make this actually work?

(This isn't an new idea new, but the QuickRSGP team is trying to make a difference in the market, and we've noticed this hasn't been incorporated properly yet..)

 

I'd be willing to add some data, this idea sounds fantastic. I'm sure a lot of the bigger corporations would appreciate the system incorporated into their checkouts as well.

 

Thanks! I don't know all the legal terms to all this, but considering most websites say they will use your information in cases of chargebacks might help out a lot. Additionally, we don't have to release a lot of personal information, usually an email address , first & last name, and amount would help out a lot / (paypal is a commonly used payment processor in RWT),

You should check out TBT's list of known people who chargeback, might get your whole database started.

In my opinion, this is what I meant by not incorporated properly. It doesn't have an a neat layout, not noob friendly, easy way to filter out data, or an API for many gold traders to use. However, it does provide nice information for a great start, thanks!

Good idea but who is going to maintain it all the time? Seems like something that will catch on for a short bit of time but die out when everyone realizes they're still getting chargedback by the same people under different identities.

90% of disputes/chargebacks are caused by stolen information/cards or junk paypals.


Telling us the information of junk paypals and already stolen cards isn't exactly helpful.


I personally wouldn't use this, just like I don't use the list TTB made.

I have one of the lowest fraud rates around aswell to(0.02% on over 2k+ transactions), but goodluck either way.

 

What do you mean maintain? It's maintained by the goldsellers who submit the data. Yes, you are completely right in the fact that fraudsters can easily get a new identity, however some fraudsters/scammers keep the same information. I'm not proposing it could remove fraud completely, but it seems like it could help out though.

For example, let's say a user charges back $100 for 110m. Chances are, the gold seller is going to try to fight back the chargeback, however other gold sellers won't be notified about this guy. The fraudster can easily use the SAME account to go trade another gold trader. With the database, if the gold seller submits information after they get chargedback, surely it'd help out other gold sellers. Basically, we are helping each other in the long run.

I haven't gotten a charge back yet, since I keep my checks fairly tight, so I'm just looking for more experienced gold sellers opinions

 

It's a fantastic idea, which if you are willing to create would certainly be useful to refer members to, at least on the assumption that gold sellers will actually invest the time to continually update the list.

Honestly I like you attitude trying to help the community however I don't think any reputable seller is willing to work with your current business model.

First of all sellers compete for this kind of information, bringing your % loss due to chargebacks down gives you an advantage over your competators. I doubt if anyone is willing to share this valueble information.

Also when reputable sellers start to make chargeback info public they'll hurt themselves. New sellers could use this information to start running their shops more effectively resulting in a growing market share. I'm sure any steady seller around wants more market share itself rather then give it to newcommers.

A doable solution would be creating a service where people can do paid queries to check if a Paypal E-mail is shared db, a part of the earnings made you could send over to the person who imputted this value, another part you take as profit.

I've not much time to create such a thing but if there's any demand we could work something out

How does sharing fraudsters information hurt themselves? The way I see it is nobody wants to deal with scammers, and if we work together we'd benefit from it either way. Holding common scammers without sharing it (if possible) just so other gold sellers can get scammed isn't really helping anyone. Of course, that's just my opinion. Honestly, I don't plan to make any paid queries since this is primarily to help the entire community out in the black market.

Yeah, that's why I opened this thread to see if anyone would contribute to it enough to keep it up to date / reliable.

 

It does help them out, picture this.

I have gold site A, I want people to buy from me.

Opponent has gold site B, I don't want people to buy from him since we're competitors

I don't share the info, so gold site B takes charge back hits, this reduces his profits meaning that to stay profitable he must increase his profit margin (buy for less sell for more)

But since I stay the same price more people buy from me instead of him since it's cheaper

He makes even less money since I'm taking some customers, which means that he has to lay off people/increase prices to remain profitable



Obviously this is just a scenario and there are many situations that could change it, but you get it.

 

But it could work both ways, it could help you in future transactions too if you participate.

 

I'll give you an example based on growth:

Seller A:
Is adding a 30% margin to his buying price and has 5% loss due to chargebacks.

When buying for 1000, selling for 1300 and losing 5%, he's left with a profit of $235,-

Seller B:
Is adding a 30% margin to his buying price and has 10% loss due to chargebacks.

When buying for 1000, selling for 1300 and losing 10%, he's left with a profit of $117,-

Seller A can now lower his margin pricing himself better in market and attracts more customers. When having a 5% loss due to chargebacks instead of 10% you can reduce your magin to about 17.5%, his selling price will now be 90.3% compared to seller B. For new shops this mean growth, for long standing shops it means they keep their market share.

You're right saying nobody wants to deal with scammers and that if everybody shares info there'll be there'll be only benefit. However this information is worth money, therefore the ones leeching from it will benefit way more then the ones who imput data knowing that if you imput data you lost $$$ already but if you're leeching there's only the change to not lose $$$

Didn't we just do something like this? A scammer database was posted a while ago where people submitted people who chargeback. Anyway, good luck, glad to hear people are interested.
