Changes to account sales thread?

Right their a lot of scamming going on in the account sales sections, (I actually have account for sale atm this idea going to put me out of selling it) , I was thinking why don't we add buying / selling section like their is for gold, this will help us find people who are buying and selling accounts the next idea is is to put post limit allowed to post under certain section of selling accounts or put post limit in general on selling accounts, Its for serenity thing, it bring down the amount of people scamming. and also stop people from making new account posting thread recovering the accounts. I was thinking we have regular section 100+ post section and 500+ section 1k+ or ad least of these sections. but people are allowed to replay with less posts on these just not allowed to make threads.

If there was way to use vouches instead of post i use but it impossible to do it without people using other people vouches sections.Also not saying sum one with 500 posts is more trust worthy than some one with 1 post, but it would help in way (assuming both have 0 vouches) , Also there be no post count limit on buy account section just on selling account section,

Will generate spam, but I guess spammers will just get banned anyway. I wish there was just a more secure way to sell accounts than the current system. If RS would just allow accounts to be sold, it'd make it so much easier . It's going to happen either way, they may as well.

 

I would like this but this isn't main problem in my eyes it all people creating brand new accounts and just flucking people with account who don't mod section for example 'account are always recoverable.' People are being scam and never using forums again, but doing this we will lose a lot of scammer as well

Sectioning it (Buying and Selling) makes sense.

Post count has never and will never mean trust, If someone came to scythe to buy an account why would they hang around in offtopic etc to gain the 100 posts they need to contact sellers? You need to make a character judgement/afford a middle man.

 

Not saying to put post limit on buying account part, saying to put on selling account part. Post count doesn't have anything to do with trust it just stop alot of people who just join to scam, getting rid of them I will clear this up in the post.

 

I'd argue it's much easier to put in a trusted user group and having a hidden forum for them, buyers heading into that section would be confident of not needing middle men making trades quicker and easier.

Sellers would be aloud a duplicate thread in the current sections for un trusted members.

The question begs, whom is a trusted member?

 

I'm curious why this forum never had a feedback system. Isn't feedback one of vBulletin's main things that a lot of vB forums usually have? I know MyBB has rep, but that doesn't do trades any justice.

Yeah, you can always do that, but who would pick the trusted members? There are people banned with $100+ donor ranks.. $200+ donor ranks.. Just too many issues that have to be considered when picking trusted people.

 

That's my point, a lot of the time now a thread seems to be just an advertisement for a members website (reaps not as much with accounts as gold)

I just don't think any deviation from the current system would work.

I do agree that the section could do with a tidy up though, to many unused sub forums.

 

I like the buying/selling idea but limiting the market is not what people want tbh. Sure it may prevent some scams but what if you only come to sythe to sell an account then leave (Assuming the trade is going to be legit) it effects them as they have to spam/post just so sell 1 account.

 

I would say 90% of those account sellers that are newcomers are all going to recover the account.

 

The post count thing will never happen because I think Richard said he doesn't want to restrict market access.

I don't think the current amount of posts demands for buying and selling sections. The only section that sees quite a bit of posts in all account sales is the OSRS 80+ mains. Even at that, I'd estimate that there are only 5-10 buying threads bumped per day, compared to the 5 pages of selling threads bumped per day in this section. The other sections see less activity, so it wouldn't be very necessary imo.

 

I don't think the point of this suggestion was to increase activity, but give clarity rather.

As for the suggestion, I don't see why there is a need to do this. It's working perfectly fine the way it is right now. And no, there won't be any post requirements to the market, ever.

 

I still think it is a good idea because everything will be more organized and easy to find. Also there would be more space for bumps, What I mean by more space for bumps is that peoeple dont have to get bumped out of the main page that frequently compared to how it is now.

I'm all for the segregation. It just makes sense to separate the two sections into buying and selling to make it easier for individuals to make trades. The argument can be made that their isn't enough activity, however if it allows for a cleaner and easier market to handle, I'm fine with it. It's not like it can cause any extra server load or anything.

This may be another thing that will be handled on Xenforo - Not too much point creating new subsections in forums when the software is going to be changed anyway.
