Car Guru's. Read.

Okay, so some kid was talking shit to me, about how he wanted to race me, in like a half mile track.
Now, I'm totally fine with this.
Here's what would be racing.

ME- 1999 Buick Regal GS 3.8L V6 Supercharged, with a Dragon cold air intake, now before I added that, it had 240hp, now it gets around 250-260. My Supercharger PSI when I'm fully accelerating is about 12.

HIM- 2003 Dodge Neon, 4cyl. Not Supercharged, No Turbo, He does have cold air/aftermarker outtake. His hp/torque is NOWHERE near what mine is.

Just because he has a "2,000 pound car" he thinks he can beat me off the line AND across the finish.

Any thoughts?

 

Well your going to outrun him in the long run, did he say if he had a cam or not? He may have a more radical aftermarket cam that could put give him advantage at a longer distance. He has to have somthing up his sleeve, you couldnt run a close to stock neon on the floor for a half mile. Race him and see what happens.

 

no he has like front intercoolers i guess.
he "claims to have 8 pounds of boost" but i know for a fact, especially in a stock 4cyl, that he'd be lucky as hell to get away with 8lbs in a race and not blow his engine out.
before my friend got his b18 in his civic, he tested to see how much he could put in his stock engine, and he blew it at 10lbs.
so idk.
im pretty sure this kid is lying about something.
theres no way his 4cyl stock could beat my 250hp.

AND: My car is the lightest 4 door sedan to have a 3.8L s/c engine. So, that being said, his 4 door neon is a little smaller than mine.

 

These stupid people put air fresheners in their car and they think it's hooked up.

 

That's what I'm saying! I tried to explain it to my girlfriend, and she was like.
"uh, I have power windows and power steering! Is that good?"
It's like, yeah haha.

 

Horsepower isn't everything.

For instance, are either of you driving an automatic?
Have you got decent tires, or walmart special?
Have you ever raced before?
There are tons of smaller details to account for when it comes to a race.

 

if you do race him, put some higher octane fuel in

Hes prob running the cheap 10% ethanol shit.
As someone above mentioned, are either of you driving a stick, and tires. THey do make a difference, especiallly off of the start.

Im more into hopping up diesel trucks, im not as knowledgeable with this tuner car stuff haha. 13lbs of boost in our work truck lol with a banks power chip and banks monster exhaust.
