Cant name change? help

I sold my old pure to a friend months n months ago and he namechanged it,


now i want to change my main back to what my pure was called but i cant, does he have to name change a second time to unlock the name for me?

apparently the old name is only saved for 7 days though, and its been 5 months?

and when i add my old chars name to my friends list it comes up with my friends new char name!

The account you want the name changed on must be a member and the name you desire must have been available for a month. If the name has been out of use for 5 months and you are not able to use it, there is a chance that the name has been taken. If it is a very obscure name like "blade50229" then there may by a problem on Jagex's side.

He needs to change his name once more to make it available, if its still appearing as his new name when you add the new one then he still has the name. Get him to either change the name again if he has membership, if not buy him a membership and get him to change it.

Once the name has been changed for a second time any account can claim it.
