What is the best Anti-Virus Software?

I was going to re-sign up with Avast Internet Security for $84.99 for 3 years, and then I read that it is not the safest software to block viruses.

Any other options or opinions will help me decide what to do?

Ive used norton for a long time, seems to do well and get the job done so like they say, if it aint broke dont fix it.

 

That's totally correct, I'm looking for a wider range of Anti-Virus Software.
I need to know what people have found using other Anti-Virus Software's.

 

I simply use windows defender/Microsoft security essentials. Never had a virus since, and its free and maintained by Microsoft themselves. Good stuff

 

Yes, but sometimes it's about just staying safe and now downloading anything suspicious.

Some files that i need to download sometime set off false-positives.
I need something that is going to give me the best results.

 

If those are the options Kaspersky hands down. It's a little pricey but the Russians do it right.

 

Yeah i have to agree with that, I like Kaspersky but really not sure if i should get it.

I also play games and i don't want it affecting my PC with Updates etc.

 

I use AVG, but I have extensive IT experience and very much malware removal experience too. AVG does work well though.

 

My Family used that for most of their Office PC's for their business.
I liked AVG but feels so easily triggered and has Ad Popups.

I have used Kaspersky Internet Security for a long time and it works perfectly well, it is a bit pricey though. I also used VIPRE Antivirus before, it does pretty good job and doesn't slow down the system when you scan but lacks some functionality.

 

I never had an antivirus but I keep Malware Bytes for my security needs.

 

I used to swear by Avast, because it IS a good product. Even the free version is top notch. However, in recent years they've decided to pester you over and over to buy the full version. Not into it. I've been too lazy to find a good alternative.
