Actually, part room lasted that long because it wasn't a big threat at the time. People were using bh/dragon stones, and the risk with party room was that for any big drops, the banks would be announcing them, and some random could easily pick it up. The only reason bh was used, even though the risk was just as high, was because it was usually 1v1 (with the exception of multiple targets) and even then it was very possible to get out alive. I watched someone transfer 7m (full sara and 1k of each expensive rune) while being attacked by about 7 people (rune skimmys/rangers). He still got out alive.

Then again, Jagex will always catch on to guides, and will always be able to patch them for 1 reason.
*Things can't be exploited unless people know about them.
*Because people know about them, the abuse it.
*Jagex finds out about it.
*Whether its months, or days, the system is then patched
*Time to find a new method to exploit.

 

True, selling guides does prevent it somewhat from being patched in the sense that Jagex wont buy it, but it also is known that when someone buys it, it is very likely to be leaked to somewhere, and Jagex watches us.

You could say that selling them delays this, but in a lot cases it get's reported to Jagex by people who want PMod position.


That's what I meant by tackling larger things first, they used a quick semi fix on it and went straight for deciding BH's fate and other RWTing that was massive.

 

But that takes time. So it will be patched later, rather than earlier because it was released for free.

Even if that were true (people who live in the RWT area of RS won't get p mod), there's more time to abuse the glitch.

Exactly. My point is that Jagex will always be looking to fix these methods. If they're being sold, then there's less of a chance that they'll be able to patch the method quickly, mainly because it's only being exploited by a few people. When it is leaked, IF it's good enough to be leaked rather, then Jagex have to review how they've allowed this to happen, and make the necessary changes. The only real time that they've completely removed a portion of the game to fix it, is BH and PKing.

If you still don't agree by now, then we probably won't be able to come to a conclusion on the topic. People want to sell their guides, so we are providing a place for that to happen again.

 

It seems we both have valid points, it's a stalemate of opinions and points really.

It's actually being considered. However, it won't provide a solution to your issue. Vouches will become a more important role in the sale of guides.

 

Yes, but really the only real solution would be to disable guide sales completely, and as you said, this is a blackmarket and RWT guides are in demand, you supply the demand, it's what Sythe does.

I don't, and didn't, really see them being disabled completely, just what my personal opinion on what should be done.

This would just help a lot, especially to organize them away from what an actual guide section is generally intended to be.

 

Sorry, I thought this thread was about your disappointment in vouches playing a large role in the sale of guides. I was just confused as to why you would want them to play an even bigger one.

A couple of day's ago Jesse told me that it took 30 minute's to do a scammer/spammer ban appeal, accuratly.
So if you take every leeched/unverified guide and made a bann apeal...? Gl!
Not to mention the other bans from other sections.

Your right we can't manage vouches...But whats the point of a meaningless vouch? Just adds more spam. Plus when these things get patched, the vouches really are meaningless.

As for the D-stone method. They were switching CEO's and also revolving around the new PvP updates. So for the mean time they did <insert the 50 d stone limit per 24 hours/48hours> Then they perminetly fixed it later.
Their new detection system is an Inversed Game Gaurd that runs off of Java (PoS that works half right) So i expect to see SCAR go down.
