Can Blind People Dream?

^ Being legally blind isn't the same as having no vision whatsoever and having been born that way. My cousin is legally blind, he's right at the edge of it, and he can still see colors, bright light, etc, very well. I think this thread was intended towards people who were born completely blind.

But I don't believe you're blind, and I wont unless you take a picture of yourself in the nude, then post it here.

We don't think about them as much because were visual. But blind people aren't visual so when dreaming they'll heard noises, probably feel certain things. It will be common things that they'll dream about. Blind people don't think the same way as seeing people, just like deaf people don't think the same way as hearing/talking people.

They'd probably think humans looked completely different...

 

Dreaming is from the mind so they just dream of the things that they think about and how they think an object or person looks from descriptions told to them or w/e.

 

If they were able to see at one time I would say they would be able to have normal dreams. If they were born blind, i guess they would just dream and hear things?

Not sure if this was answered or not but yes.. blind people can dream as well. It has nothing to do with your vision. You could be blind your whole life and still have them.

 

Now the real question is.......can a (wo)man born blind, deaf, and mute dream?

 

i believe blind people can imagine/dream and see it because its in the head just because u cant see real visible things doesnt mean u cant see things in ur head

" Yes, blind people do dream. What they see in their dreams depends on how much they could ever see. If someone has been totally blind since birth, they only have auditory dreams. If someone such as I, has had a measure of sight, then that person dreams with that measure of sight. I still dream as though I can see, colors included. For people I've met since, their faces are just blurs or how I imagine they look. To me, someone like my mother looks forever 30. "

If the person has been blind since birth, any dreams they have would be restricted to their other senses. There would be no images.

 

correct, a blind person wouldn't see anything in their dreams, but they could here sounds and visa versa for a deaf person

 

of course they dream, just not in the way we do since they have never seen anything be4

The only way to find out is to ask one. I don't happen to know any blind people myself, but I'm pretty sure they do dream. Maybe not in the same way we dream but dream nonetheless.

Not necessarily. Although dreams are just recollections of memories, I bet people with wild imaginations can still see pictures. If something is described to them very thoroughly, they will probably try to put it together using their imagination and therefore create an image.

 

this also can tie in with can deaf people hear there thoughts... which is of course, yes, i think ? lol
