Primus is more or less an alternative mixture of rock and metal. They're out there to be different, and even if I didn't like them I respect it immensely; people with creativity like Les Claypool are few and far between nowadays. Jerry Was a Racecar Driver and Wynona's Big Brown Beaver are my favourites by them.

On the other hand, bands like Bullet have to copy their goddamn riffs, and that I CAN'T respect.

Take it Out On Me - BFMV (2008)

Pinball Map - In Flames (2000)

Notice it? Wait for the clean part in the middle, what's it sound like? Iron Maiden?
Fear of the Dark - Iron Maiden (1992)

    ---

Doing that is the lowest of the low, and they didn't even cite a creative reference for that song. It's pathetic. I also don't really want to listen to incessant pubescent whinging.

I'm really into Symphony X and dream theater. Anyone heard of them?

I agree that some bands rip off from others, but im really a iron maiden fan. I think the guy from primes is really good and I respect him but I just don't like songs like "my name is mud"

symphony x is pretty good but dream theater is a little slow for me

You're kidding me right? First you'd base an opinion on speed of all things, but you insinuate Dream Theater doesn't play fast when they want to?

i didn't say they were bad but the songs i listened to of them were mostly slower and i prefer faster, heavier stuff. just my taste

i like the music and vocals but not really the lyrics. i don't mind the occasional cussing in a song but when there are constant "fuck"s and "shit"s and things like that i feel like its not as good because there are other words wich could add more meraning to the song.

I find the concept kind of strange as a musician myself. IMO speed, theme, style and so on are devices that you can use in a composition to tell a story. They're just as important as the lyrics to me, so when people say "I prefer fast and heavy" it really confuses me.

Well, it is an opinion, but I just find it odd.
