Video Tutorial: How to Avoid Imposters on Skype

Just tossed this up quickly to show people how to check Skype Contact names and send/receive trade confirmations via PM. Let me know if it helps, maybe I'll make some others.

Yes, I am amazed that people still fall for it, since it's such an old scam. It seems the majority of users have no idea the difference between Display Names and Contact Names.

 

You need alot more than just 3 lines of a Skype convo. You can always get PM trapped by impostors. I usually include my skype, their skype, exact trade details, in game names and a snap of the skype convo to be safe.

 

True, it's just a general example that you should get the conversation sent via PM.

 

Should of got R2Anne to do a video demo with her b00bs showing would of been a 10/10 then ;l

Thanks for the video, also answered a question of mines, i got contacted by an impostor who had told me this "Live: isn't in the actual skype name" after i asked about his fake OMM with the profile name of "ntryix.sythe" and how it did not appear as the profile name of "live:nytrix.sythe". So now i know that if the person posts their skype name with live:something the live: is also included, if its not posted as so then it isn't.

I'd just add that FOR MAC USERS ONLY, skype names preceded by "live:" appear without the "live:" prefix. As in, "live:r2pfake" shows up as "r2pfake" and can be very hard to distinguish from the real account since they appear exactly the same. As always, though, just request a pm or something similar to avoid getting scammed.
