Buying Accounts From Reputable Users in PlayerAuctions

There are quite a few good accounts I've seen up for sale in PA. I obviously avoid new sellers who don't have feedback. Chicksgold has thousands of positive reviews but they are a but expensive for my liking.

I have seen quite a few users with 100% good ratings from around 10-40 customers. These users are also legendary sellers and verified sellers. Would it be safe to buy accounts from them without the threat of recovery?

I've never used PA before so I'm not familiar with the rating system. If let's say they recover the account down the line, would I be able to place a negative review in the future to reflect the recovery of the account, and break their streak of positive reviews and remove their legendary/verified seller status?

It is never safe to buy an account from anyone without a threat of recovery.
There are plenty of things you can do to minimalize the threat of recovery, but it will never be non-existent.
Chicksgold was one of your examples, they buy accounts from people and resell them; sure, they do their best to do their due diligence, but the fact remains, some random person owns that account and will be able to recover it (that said, Chicks do have accounts they themselves are the OO of, and those accounts are likely pretty safe)

To be safe about an account you're purchasing you should be looking for a few major things:
- Who is the original owner of the account
- What sort of ACCOUNT SALE feedback does the ORIGINAL OWNER have (not the seller)
- What sort of warranty/guarantee is the seller providing (read it thoroughly and completely understand both that warranty and their terms of service)

At the end of the day, spending more money on a safe account is infinitely better than going for a cheaper one, putting 6 months of time/effort into it, and then it's stolen along with the bank you've accrued in that time.

Potentially? It depends where you buy it and how much reach you have

Anyway, regarding users who have at least well over a dozen prefect reviews and verified/legendary seller titles, is it worth buying from them?

 

I mean that, you leaving one negative review likely isn't going to completely destroy their reputation.
If you have reach to get more ears, then you are more likely to be able to do so.

Regardless, my original point stands - yes, it's worth buying from them, but you need to follow the advice from my first post here. You can't just blindly buy from anyone, no matter how trusted they are, until you have the answer to some very important questions (again, my original post here.)

 

The world of an open market favors the informed buyer. You owe it to yourself to do your due diligence before making a purchase. This is true for basically any purchase you make in your life that costs more than like $20. Do your research, be informed, and purchase with as much information as possible to know you're spending your money well. This is especially true in digital markets, and the most true (in my experience) in the Runescape market.

 

Am I allowed to mention PlayerAuction users in Sythe forums? There's one person in particular I am looking to buy from as he has the best deals.

I plan to ask for recovery information and use that to change the password, as if I am the original owner of the account.

 

That's not how that works. Recovery information and changing the password will not make the account any safer.
The single most important part of a recovery request is the computer in which the request is sent from. The original owner will ALWAYS be able to recover an account. Even if the account has no registered email. Even if the original owner gives you the creation email. Even if he gives you his social security number, his blood type, and his first born son, he will ALWAYS be able to recover that Runescape account. Hence needing to be absolutely sure of who the original owner is, and if you're confident that person can be trusted.

I'd like to add that with my main account that was recently permabanned, I wasn't the original creator of it but I believe I was the first to associate it with my email address. I have no access to the computer the creator used to create the account, yet, I was always able to recover it. Has this changed?

 

It hasn't changed - just because you were able to recover it, doesn't mean the original owner couldn't also recover it.

No. You can't go off basic stats like that. You need to look at their reviews and determine if they're valuable.
Gold selling for example, a company can get 10,000 feedback by buying/selling gold, that doesn't mean they've ever been trusted with an account.
If someone had the intention to scam, they could easily just buy/sell gold for a couple weeks, make their prices the cheapest possible so they get all the sales, get 1000 feedback and it'd cost them like $50, then just sell like 4 accounts and scam them all.

Maybe, maybe not. There's no way to know that. Regardless, original owners will always be able to win the recovery war.

 

With a lot of the accounts with positive rep, they don't just sell gold, they also have a lot of positive reviews from selling accounts. Is this only marginally better than what you described?
