Building my own PC

I talked to you on MSN, here's some stuff.

Memory 4GB total

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227269

Motherboard, pretty nice, I use the previous version and it's pretty good.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188028

Power Supply. I use the same manufacturer, hasn't failed after a year and half.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341002

Quad Core 2.66GHz Intel Pretty good clock speeds for now, and the quad core will make it future proof for a year or two.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115131

NVIDIA 9800GT I use their other Graphics cards and they are pretty good. And if you want another one for SLI and more power you can just get another one because the MOBO and the Power Supply support SLI

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130377

CD/DVD drive

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106251

Total Cost Roughly 920. You get some warranties and Rebates so shouldn't vary too much.

I agree with these specs. They are great parts, probably some of the best for a good price and quality, and mind me asking, why would anyone need a whole terabyte of memory? Also, nice case.

cpu:AMD athlon 6000+ 3.0 GHZ // I prefer dual core CPU's because most applications today don't use the power of all 4 cores in a quad.

cpu fan: zalman 9500A 92mm HSF // you'll be able to do some overclocking with this thing on

memory: 2GB corsair DDR2 800MHZ RAM // High performance RAM

video card: EVGA 9800GX2 512 ddr3 // this is a really good video card, it has 2 cores it

psu: Corsair TX 750W // corsair is a reliable psu brand

Hey PM me dude,
I can hook you up,
Learned how to build very great computers from my step dad.
Or we can discuss on MSN,
[email protected]

Right now, the ATI Radeon 4870 HD is the best bang for your buck.

If you can't afford that, go for the 4850

I agree but what about this for RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220278 theoretically DDR3 is way better than DDR2.

oh yeah, DDR3 would be fine then, or some high performance ddr2. e.g ddr2 800, 1066 would be just fine.

BTW, don't go buying a 790i board if you aren't going to use the SLi.

EDIT: I agree with Jansen, you may want to wait on DDR3 right now, DDR2 is still the standard RAM and DDR3 is expensive right now.

$250 for a 4870... a 4870 X2 is $520 on newegg.

Right
but it kicks the ass out of the 280gtx

the normal 4870 gets you LITERALLY ONE FRAME PER SECOND LESS on average, using crysis as a benchmark, than the 280

Is that one frame per second worth another $200?

I never said it was worth it. If I was building a new computer I'd probably put a $100 9800GT in it.

You can buy my old computer with windows 95, it runs pacman (Little bit laggy if u turn the graphics really high) It would be like 800$ so little cheaper then u wanted? Joking :P But the first advice would be good and i would pack my ram upto 6gb and my Video card upto 1gb, so u dont need to upgrade it in near future :P
