    Building my own gaming laptop

I'm thinking of building my own laptop, which will be used for gaming. Can someone give their input and knowledge on how I should begin, how much I will be looking at for a decent one (not trying to go too expensive), recommendations, or point me out to a good guide.

    Thanks.

I honestly would just buy a pre made. Unless you wanna build a desktop, those are easier but there is still a lot you gotta worry about. Good luck though. xD

Then any suggestions for a good gaming laptop? I was looking at the Lenovo ones and they seem to fit me.

I had a lenovo y510p for a few years and it suited me really well. Not huge like the Asus ROG laptops yet I could play most games just fine at med-ultra settings.

Yeha I've got the Y40 and I can play GTA 5 on the medium, had I had enough money I would have gone for the Y50. That should be able to pump out waaay more power.

As for building a laptop, you'd never do it by hand, not even if you know your shit. It's not like building a desktop where you just buy the components; in most laptops, all the components are all on the motherboard so it's essentially just all one piece. That's why it's a bit foolish to say you'll build your own. However, there are sites that let you pick and choose what types of features you want then they ship you the finished product. You could look into that. I think Lenovo gives you a degree of customization with their products on their site, and I think Dell does that too. Cost vs. performance & quality will always lead you to Lenovo, though.

I have a lenovo y510 and it's pretty decent. I don't have much to compare it to but all of my research when I bought it lead me to lenovo.

And the only think in a laptop you can change is usually the drive. Get yourself a nice SSD. I actually swap out my drives sometimes (hard disk is for work SSD is for play).

Not worth the money or time to build a gaming laptop. Plus its a terrible investment IMO since the video card is on the board. What you buy is what you get...
