Building Desktop

How's this -

Radeon HD 6850- $159.99

Core i7-2600K - $329.99

Mobo - $119.99

Power Supply - $59.99

Corsair 16gb ddr3 @ 1600mhz - $199.99

Supermulti optical drive - $29.99

Patriot Torqx 32gb SSD - $82.97

Total < $985 (I rounded it up to the nearest dollar when adding)

I think it's a good pc for under $1000

You can overclock it, but I wouldn't do it too high or too often without investing in liquid cooling.

Hope this one helps.

I'll probably overclock it anyways so going to need that liquid cooling (problem being I've never overclocked a PC, I've had others do it).
You and liquid cooling. :L

If you want a decent cooler to OC with for roughly $30 get the CM Hyper 212+
And if you want save a bit more cash and get a better GPU you can drop the ram down to 8gig, I have 6gig and have never used more then 3ish. :)
Also you can drop down to a i5 2500k, it's an i7 2600k, it just isn't multi-threaded(instead of 4cores & four threads it only has 4 cores)
And most people want a case... :P

I'd rather have more RAM as I find bots to be quite RAM intensive and I'm basically pushing to use as much bots as possible 24/7 basically goldfarming to pay back a decent chunk of my PC costs. I don't have use for a highend GPU - I just watch the occasional movie and browse a LOT. I don't PC game much and when I do it's games like CS:S that I run on my old crappy PC perfectly fine.
Processor - AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition Thuban 3.3GHz-

Ram - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 12GB

Motherboard - ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3

Video card - SAPPHIRE 100315L Radeon HD 6850 1GB

Power supply - CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX650 V2 650W

Hard drive - SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 1TB

Case - Rosewill CRUISER Black Gaming ATX Mid Tower

Cpu Cooler - COOLER MASTER V8

Total - $1034.91

I have a very similar setup and I can run 9-10 bots easily with no over clocking. Also you don't need 16gb of ram. Theres no reason to give over 12gb as you won't even use that.
I don't think that cooler is worth it tbh - the mechanism doesn't seem like it'd be cooling anything in a hurry. The HD is way more than I need though I do like the tower due to the sheer amount of fans and dust filtering (my rooms seems to be quite dusty though I clean it a LOT [might be due to living in a relatively old building]). I recently cleaned out my tower and the amount of dust in there is ridiculous.
Welll I never think to pick one out. Usually it's personal preference what they want it to look like. As far as liquid cooling goes, I overclock my cpu, ram, and video card and I like to leave that option open because it helps if you're using a budget build to begin with.

The i5 and i7 may be the same thing, but the hyper-threading makes a difference. It's up to the user whether or not they see it as being worth $70 extra but since I was still under budget, I chose that.

I don't know why I picked 16gb of RAM. I guess It would save you a possible future upgrade. It's 1600mhz but the motherboard supports up to 2133mhz. For 40 bucks more you get an extra 4gb of 1600mhz RAM and more RAM than most computers. If you're going to run a lot of bots, you want a lot of RAM. The gpu is pretty similar to the one Noodles and rjs picked.

Yeah, it's the common knowledge in the botting community and from personal experience that botting is RAM intensive.

With all that said, I *may* not build a new desktop until summer as I might be getting my security guard license and upgrade my Driver's license which'll cost me about $700 of the current ~$1200 I have saved up in my Desktop fund. :/

If your really worried about cooling you can go with a corsair H70 liquid cooler, I bought one when I built my rig but it doesn't fit in that case so I haven't been able to use it :( so if you do decide to get the h7o you will need a larger case.

I always suggest the h70. Good cooling for a low price.

This, or either the Noctua D14, D14 is one of the best air coolers on the market, and IMO is better then the H70.

You took the words outta my mouth. I couldn't think of the name of that off hand but I knew it was another 3 character name like the H70.
