How Safe is Buying RS Accounts Now?

Hey guys,

Been in the RS market for years now however haven't purchased or sold (although I am selling) any accounts in a while now.

Just wondering whether anythings changed in regards to whether it is more safer/secure to purchase accounts now?

For example, if I were to purchase an account from a December 2015 user, is there a way I can guarantee the security of the account once it's in my possession?

Thought I'd ask before I decide anything haha

There are far too many stickies saying no. They can recover it no matter what info they give you.

If they're the original owner and they have the intent to scam, you have no chance. I'd stick to buying from trusted users.

 

Yep. Overpay for an account from a trusted user or make the account yourself. That is the only way to go.

 

There is no way to ensure you are safe when buying an account. The best way to secure yourself is to always buy from trusted users

Make sure you don't get tricked into anything at all. If people are saying stuff like "It has no e-mail" or "I'm at a different I.P to my registration" and all of that stuff, just ignore them. You'll often see the same scammers popping back over and over again with the same accounts so they know what they're doing.

 

Fortunately I'm not that naive

My question was more wondering whether Jagex have introduced any further methods (on top of email registration and whatever that guardian thing is) to ensure an added security, but everything seems the same

As stated above, only the original owner of the account can completely secure it, as a buyer your only comfort when it comes to buying an account is buying from someone that you deem trustworthy. Best of luck if you do decide to buy an account, although people that have trust price the accounts high most of the time, it's worth it.
