Breaking up

I agree with cody. You gotta do what your heart tells you to do. Let me tell you somethin' right now. You're only allowed three great women in your lifetime. They come along like the great fighters, every ten years. Rocky Marciano. Sugar Ray Robinson. Joe Louis.*I had one at 16 and I got one now. But after 3 strikes thats it

What the fuck HAAHAHAHAHAAHA dead

My advice would be to occupy yourself with things and not think too much of the break up when it does hit you.

Based on my experience, you can't really remain friends with an ex unless the breakup was mutual. Unfortunately, it hardly ever is.

The single piece of advice I would give to somebody in your situation would be to accept what has happened and come to terms with the reality of things. It may take some time and it will not be pleasant. But it's the only way forward.

Shoot me a PM if you need to. Even though I don't know you, I understand the situation you're in better than most.
Appreciate the kind words. I would say we broke up about as mutually as can be, but we obviously still have some feelings for each other. 3 years is a long time :p

Yes, I understand. It's more than long enough for you to learn to accept the other person as a natural part of your everyday life. The hard part is coming to terms with the fact that this is no longer the case. Even more so if you actually live in the same house. I've been through a long term relationship. Although it wasn't quite three years,I understand what it feels like. So if you're feeling down or you just want to chat, feel free to PM me.

Never stay friends with an EX. It ends one of two ways, EVERYTIME.
1. You get back together in a sketchy relationship, unstable.
2. It ends badly.

It will do one of these two things unfortunatly so I suggest you get out of there ASAP!

Like you said, you guys are going down different paths, so it's best to just look beyond the thought of you guys. Living together will make things worse, the only thing that can cure a break up is time and mental toughness.

Just smile because it happened, and use your experience as a stepping stone to finding the one.

This advice may not be the best for you, as it is in the end your choice on how to feel and think about the situation. 3 years is a long time, and I myself haven't experienced a relationship that long, but i wish you the best c:

staying friends actually works, just not right away. I'm in good terms with all of my exes, my longest relationship was almost two years and frankly we tried to be friends right away after breaking up we just always ended up getting close, it only worked out good after we've both had our distances for a while and had time to move on, needless to say we are still in good terms, hell They even sometimes come to me for advice regarding their current relationship.

I know it may be hard to take your distances in a situation where you live together, but I wish you the best of luck through it all :)
