What about a general windows utility type of program? It would be rated on its usefulness, and how easy it would make certain tasks.

The type of program itself doesn't have to be specified, but as long as it works, maybe.

True enough. Any other suggestions?

 

- The most annoying program ever made.
- An autonomous program which is actually useful for purposes other than game cheating
- A useful utility for an operating system of choice (more points for cross-platform)

I propose a ten-point judging criteria:

1. Usefulness
2. Innovation
3. Application (how easy it is to use)
4. Eye-candy (a must for nubs who want to use your program)
5. Use of other resources (negative points if you use someone elses code)

Mainly focusing on 1-3 and 5, however 4 can be a quick and easy pointscorer, but it won't rate as well as the others. Number 5 will deduct points from your overall score if you have used someone else's code, and you will be disqualified if you are found to be using it without giving credit.

The winner will be decided out of who has the highest average score.

If you want, I can offer Demonoid invites.

We are trying to pick one... We want plenty of room for interpretation and it be able to be done by semi-beginners and more advanced programmers.

 

Well maybe we can do a RPG? I don't know if thats possible in other languages but I know in C++ you can make a text based rpg.

 

A RPG would take a long time to make so it's not really a viable option.

 

Exactly. The contest will be a month long to let you test and work nice and slow.

I'm not that far in C++ either. But if you guys disagreee, theres nothing I can do about it.

I would like to give a prize too. A lvl 90 Runescape account. I dont play rs anymore and i dont want it to be wasted.

 

In all honesty the first contest should be something simple, an RPG would be a good idea. Have a bit of everything (input/output, reading information from the internet, using variables, etc...) that way it's not just one simple section or programming, and everybody can get involved.
