    Blades CoD:AW Review

Short and sweet, this one. Played a few campaign and enough multiplayer to hit 36 as of now. As a very competitive gamer, I loved seeing ranked play to remind me of my blops high ranking master tier days, but I was disappointed. It seems ranked is just 4 tryhards who clearly have no lives (seriously, 5th prestige. It's been two days. Dude. Go outside.) against anyone that joins. That's for qualifications of course, but like any ELO system, you'll be stuck there forever. There is no benefit to individual performance. Game modes are random, so you can't even play FFA.

Controls: Pretty bad. You can at least toggle the aim assist, which is nice, but the ADS sensitivity being different from the non-ADS has completely ruined this game. No single game that's had them different (and as horridly scaled as this) has been fun to play. Two different sliders or just use the same mechanics that you've used for....7 games? Why change what works?

Suit abilities! Movement: Shit. Absolute, halo-esque shit. It's not CoD, and it's trying to be better, but it's somehow worse. I get on for a few games because I just want to shoot shit without worrying about anything sometimes, but this is just stupid.

I'm not sure why every game thinks they need to evolve and add fucking power suits and super jumps and slides and booster packs and whatever other bullshit, but it needs to stop. WW2 shooters and contemporarilly (yes, word) accurate (without thermal-sight super tracking hero shit that doesn't actually happen outside of special forces in the military) shooters are still the most fun to me, because there's no....junk. There's no filler. It's who can shoot better. CS:GO has capitalized on this. Their entire franchise is based around whoever is more accurate, wins. Call of duty? It used to be whoever sees the other person first.
Now? Whoever hasn't already died from some random wrist-rocket grenade or being blown up by a ridiculous killstreak (want to shoot it down? Too bad, there's fucking sky-high buildings or trees everywhere. Every map. Leave the stinger in the armory.) is put into a mecha-type joust, where you're both shooting and jet-packing in different directions, all while attempting to move your weapon ADS, which simply isn't possible because it still takes 2 seconds for a 360 on max sensitivity.

    For any fanboy response:
Is this biased? No. This is my opinion. I've played every CoD, probably over 50 days game time. It's still shit, I play it because it's easy and my KDR is always ~3.
Do I hate every game? Most. Destiny? Shit. Halo? after 3, shit. Battlefield? Shit. I've played all, and have a good experience. This isn't some play two match and rank post, it's accurate based on an experienced. competitive FPS player's point of view.

Looking forward to buying AW soon, is the addition if the jet pack type thing in multiplayer annoying or does it add a better aspect to the experience
In your opinion should I buy it? I only really play online

The jet pack is something I don't like at all, there's a classic mode but it's quite inactive and no "ranked" for that mode. I too play mostly online after completing veteran campaign once (returning only to "Ghille in the mist" of course, because it's the best mission in the history of CoD games) before going online only.

The Exo dodge features make grenades almost completely useless, really. They also add a very annoying apsect to where you'll need to raise your sensitivity highly, as there will be many times where you're on a roof looking down, and suddenly a player comes from below you to 15 feet above and behind you. Unless you snap to him immediately, you're dead as fuck.

Competitive FPS players use very low sensitivities for accuracy (yup, even those 14-year old "trick shot" gurus) and especially with the different ADS sens scales, it's another annoying aspect.

It's up to you, I'd get it again, just because I like to game with friends from time to time and I'm still fairly good at it, approaching a 2.0 KDR.

2.14 Kd for me in Black ops 2 ;)
Yeah I heard the sensitivity goes from 1-20 now for finer tuning of it.
I'd say I'll still end up buying no matter how bad it is because simply it's call of duty
Are the new maps optimised for the jet pack? Are they on much larger scale because of this?

They're much smaller. I'm a career camper, because that's how real combat works, and it's pretty much impossible now. Probably the smallest maps since CoD4.

Very small but very big at the same time. If you run without jumping around.. You can cross the entire map pretty fast. If you jump on buildings, etc.. Its big maps. You can go practically EVERYWHERE on the map. Its a weird but awesome feeling.

Its a new way to play COD that I enjoy a Lot.
