This is now becoming a common scam. I have lost 150$ from this so far.

What happens is:
They buy all your gold in game and hours later call paypal and reverse the payment by saying it was made from an unauthorized location. In other words, pretending they were hacked.

To prevent this:

Get the person sending the money on paypal to send an email with their paypal registered email to you. Have them include things like their name, authorization of payment, and details of the trade.

With this email and screenshot of email, if they attempt to reverse it you can provide paypal with this email and they will decline the reversal.

Sincerely, Bossmeister.

This has already been widely known.

Just because they sent the payment as a gift does not mean you are safe from chargebacks.

My #1 rule is to only accept PayPal from people who I know I can trust.

Thanks for the heads up for people who didn't know, though.

You can prevent the chargebcak if they send you an email from their paypal registered email: saying they are the one in charge of their account.

Ive been charged back all my money. So am no longer buying/selling gold.

An easy way to avoid this is to use moneybookers / player auctions / western union.

that's not 100% safe either, i asked the buyers did that before, but i still lost $450+ for "unauthorized trade" issue
so only trade with ppl who you trust via paypal, or verify the payment before trade

Kevin001 what is the best way to make a cash exchange for rsgp? I have lots to sell but not interested in being scammed.

Yes, this has happened to me recently, sold 90m for $90. Sold it in 3 increments of 30m each and $30 each time. He disputed all 3 transactions, I made him attach a note to all of the payments saying that, "I am sending this money to Paitsc*****@yahoo.com (starred out the rest of my email) for a virtual item in runescape that I have already received. For no reason whatsoever will I ask for this money back." So hopefully that will help me win it all back. =]

Forgot to add, Western Union is definitely the way to go from now on. PayPal just isn't safe anymore. World has gone to shit =/
