Here I'll explain what happened to me to help you understand alertpay's system

To explain the pics I have made a timeline for you to explain what happened so you know how alertpay's chargeback system is bogus

1) I sold gold to windy tam [email protected]
2) I sent money to a different account "[email protected]" thinking alertpay would just give me a negative ballance in a case of a chargeback
3) I then bought gold from a guy here on sythe named omgtuxca
4) [email protected] then charged back thus alertpay took the money from omgtuxca my 2nd alertpay account and my original account to pay off the chargeback. Hell they could have just charged my bank account but instead the make me seem like a criminal
5) After finding out what happened I paid omgtuxca back

THis thread is just hear to let you know even payments from alertpay ballances can be charged back so stick to WU and moneybookers

You realize whether or not you can dispute a charge has nothing to do with the payment system, right? PayPal is susceptible. AlertPay is susceptible. MoneyBookers is susceptible. The person goes directly to their credit card company and disputes the charge, it has nothing to do with them contacting whatever payment provider they used to send you the money.

Anyways, receiving from a "credit card" funding source is fine, as long as it's a debit card. You can't "chargeback" with a debit card. The money is instantly taken out of their bank account, and there's next to nothing the person can do to get it back.

Secondly, what would make you think they wouldn't take action on your second account? Of course they will to get the money back. They aren't completely stupid.

Yea sorry about this, I think I told you on msn that this would happen, as I had a similar problem with alertpay.

And to the poster above, you can still chargeback even if it's a debit card, most major banks have protection for the debit cards, only way you can be safe with a bank payment is a wire transfer.

Most banks will say they will try to freeze the funds or get it back, but if it's already cleared, and the money is in another account, there's nothing they can do. A lot banks actually just have a zero liability policy on their debit cards, so if one does get lost or stolen, you're just simply out of the money. That's why most people, businesses, and banks urge people to use a credit card for online purchases or for large items, because you can dispute the charge. On a debit card, it's next to impossible to get your money back.

When they say zero liability it means that you're protected not that they will not be liable if your card get lost or stolen...... Debit card chargebacks are not as easy as Credit Card and you might need to act faster but it is possible, depending on bank.

Actually it's not Alertpay's fault you accepted a Credit Card funded payment. Do yourself a favor and make sure it's Bank verified and from Balance next time. If anything you should be bagging on credit card companies and your own failure to make a secure transaction, not alertpay. Sucks to lose money though, good job on making things even with omgtux.

but the thing is that someone could send you money from an alertpay ballance and still chargeback all they would have to do is send money to that account from a credit card and you would have no way of knowing
