Blupig suggested the specific programs that I frequently use on my secure computers. The only other recommendation is to use Comodo software if you're willing to spend money. They typically create a standard for professional security in a lot of areas.

You should use ad-block on your browsers to keep yourself from clicking and downloading Malware.

A suggestion for keeping track of your passwords are using LastPass or KeePass, depending on how you want to store that type of information. LastPass is extremely useful for transferring passwords to different devices, but make sure you have an appropriate master password.

There is no such thing called the best security software, almost all are the same and easy to bypass, how that is done is nothing i'm going to explain.

    If you're on windows:
    ccleaner
    eset antivirus
Resource Monitor - pre installed in windows, check for incoming and outgoing data, what ports are being used, if you find a suspicious ip and port on a suspicious application, google the application and find the default ip/port. If it doesn't match the defaults you're most likely being hacked.

People could hack you by only having your ip, for example through skype.
They could nmap for open ports, check vulnerability on the open port, find an exploit that suits the port. All done quiet undetectably under your nose.

be careful who you trust. Use google chrome as it no longer supports java (java drive-by's were very common, especially silent ones where u get infected by only having java and visiting the malicious website which could look VERY legit.

Silverlight drive by's and adobe flash are common too. pdf and word documents could also be infected.so basically when you download a guide online, for example runescape money making guide (pdf/word) it could be infected, it would open like any other document and you wouldn't notice the virus.

If you need security help feel free to contact me. I have certifications in:
    • CISSP
    • CISM
    • CCSK
    • PMI Risk Management Professional
    • CCNA Security
    • CISA
    • CASP
    • Security+

for storing sensitive data such as passwords, I'd recommend using GPG encryption, found here:https://www.gnupg.org/

don't rely on anti virus. They are all shit

malware bytes is not an anti virus software, it's not capable of deep security.

    MICROSOFT ENDPOINT!

ESET antivirus is great, detects even the smallest amount of suspicious code that other anti viruses wouldn't detect, not bulletproof though

Perfect point! Hunt for the virus, don't rely on 3rd parties.

checking what items are added to startup is a very good way of handling unwanted viruses. check the registry too.

For someone as accredited as you claim to be in cyber security, you sure are an idiot when it comes to general forum etiquette, and you clearly failed to read the forum rules.

I've taken the liberty of merging your slew of posts into one singular post, seeing as that concept was too complex for you.

I'd love to see proof of your claimed certifications BTW.

Antivirus wise I personally use Bitdefender total security, but as long as you don't go around clicking on sketchy ass links you should be fine with any basic free antivirus (AVG free, Bitdefender free). For a firewall Windows Firewall isn't all that bad but most popular premium antiviruses bundle their own; keep track of what exceptions you make and you should be fine though.

For internet browsing safely I use the extensions Adblock, Ghostery and HTTPS everywhere which stops malicious ads, trackers and packet sniffing on public networks when browsing the internet. If you use Chrome I would also recommend you disable all cookies by default and add an exception for any sites you trust.
