Bank Bidding? Dafuq?

What happened why are rares dropping?

 

At first I got excited cuz I could get all my mules for cheap and make a few k. Then I realized no usernames...

 

Are we made aware of the accounts name, if we were to bid?

 

No, they'd hide the name but give info such as what they were banned for and their total level.

 

I don't know if this is correct as far as im aware this has not been confirmed anywhere its pretty much like a rumor. Also the fact that blue party hats are almost 10b would make it seem impossible for them to be worth that much, if banned accounts had there phats sold into ge by jagex. Iv'e had an account ban quashed and all the stuff was there, i had no rares on it though just money. However i have heard of people getting perma banned, and having it quashed with all their items including rares still on them. If jagex put banned rares back into the game i don't think they would rise... that would mean they are only raising due to players quitting the game with rares on their account, and seeing how much they are worth i dont think that is the case.... that or people destroying there billion gp worth of rares for no reason?

People who buy rares from the GE are probably from idiots who sell them into the GE

 

I disagree. I understand where you're coming from but tbh it happens too frequently for it to simply be the mistake of some uninformed seller. No one knows the rules completely in regards to Jagex' care of banned accounts. Maybe there is a time constraint, or maybe it only happens to banned mules whose owners have been banned on a frequent and consistent basis for RWT. Maybe it only happens to accounts where the wealth was obtained through glitch staking/luring/phishing/etc.

 

Well of Goodwill gets rid of a lot of rares as well. People love that "Billionaire" title for some reason and a lot of charity streams you can say bye bye to rares.

Just another example of how rares can leave the game permanently.

 

You could be right here, but Phats also raise alot during the well of good fortune every year, that could be the culprit right there. never the less, maybe they do release rares from certain banned accounts.

Yeah this is extremely true and is probably a huge factor as to how rares get removed from the game.

Really bad idea to bring botted material into the game that wasn't earned legitimately, its already affected the partyhat prices (Purple went from 3.4b to 2.9b in 1 night)

 

honestly think this wont be a bad addition to the game. its already stated bidding would only happen once a month or so. not every single day.

They're clearly already changing gears with it. Making it a lot less influential on the economy. This idea sounds a lot better. Though it's not really bidding.

Also, J-Mod confirmed rares don't get put onto the GE when someone is banned.

I think that theory only ever got popular when big time RWTERS like Stokenut, CLS Product, and Fishy got banned.

 

This would be a ridiculous update never heard of anything like it, rs3 died a while ago in my eyes though so im not overly bothered.

 

If they keep it as the 5 bank giveaways and 100k to buy a ticket to "bid" on one bank, it'll take a lot more money out of the economy than it puts in. Since Jagex will be handpicking the accounts that can be won.

A lot less damaging than it sounded at first. I still wouldn't be surprised if the idea is scrapped. It's a pretty bad idea.

 

I think it's rather clear the main goal is to stop Rares from disappearing from the game. A lot of said banned accounts are from players who bot or break other major rules to their advantage and then stock up on rare items. It's destructive for the game, and a great pity to have these items disappear from the game.
It's not that much of a bad idea.
