Password Generator

I have created a simple program which generates very unique, unguessable passwords.

This includes ALT+### code characters so it will not be easily bruteforced or even unhashed if the database is ever compromised (though that ever happening is unlikely). My reason for this assumption is that all the MD5 decryption tools I've seen only ever use a standard A-Z, 0-9 + punctuation ASCII table for characters, yet your password for Sythe can contain ALT+### characters as well.

Wont be able to login on other computers unless you have it on an email or something..who is going to remember that password

 

Thanks SMR, this should help stop those pesky SQL injectors.

 

Although it might be unique and unguessable, it's also quite unneccesary to be that long... You could half it and have it still be just as unguessable and unique.

 

How often do you visit Sythe from other computers? (Not trying to be sarcastic or anything, I'm seriously wondering if that's a concern).

Just select and use half the characters in the generated password if you want a shorter one.

 

Unless those injectors can find passwords like SMR's (even though its amazing)

I don't think a desktop program is really necessary. Wouldn't it be easier to use a webbased one? At least, I would think so.

Maybe there should be a field where you can supply your own charset? I don't think everyone likes alt-codes in their passwords.

 

Delete the ALT code characters from the generated string if it suits you. I may update it later, but I've got waaay too much to do right now.

If you understand how this works you will see how very, very, very nearly impossible it is for the same string to ever be generated twice.

 

I've always used alt+### combos on sythe and other sites, that's why i thought it was funny when sigex said he'd crack my password with a password list... over 20 characters, with several al+## combos... funny.

 

Nice lol, but like others said, its unecessary to have the password that long, you could make it short, and it can still be very good.

Also, it's perfectly safe to use 9-12 random letters and numbers. No password cracker is going to try and get anything above 6 with a brute force, and as long as it isn't a word the chances of someone using a wordlist are tiny. And who the hell is going to remember that?

I don't remember half the passwords I use. It's called Firefox's Password Manager, and emailing them to yourself in case you need to login from another computer.

 

I made one of these a while back in VB6, except that the passwords were less complex, if anything easier to remember but difficult to guess all the same...Thanks for this though, I'm sure this'll fix the issue with many members who still have passwords like "123654" lol.

 

Yeah, I know what a SQL injection is, I was just thinking of some vBulletin 3.6.1 explot. Anywho, didn't you release something similer to this before? Or am I thinking of someone else.

 

my password is worse than that... i really need to chnage it, but i use it for everything that i won;t get hacked on or that idc... :/... i really need to change it to my good password but i am a lazy ass.
