Australia to remove "BC" from dates

Stupid. If they want to change the meaning fine, but keep the same initials and think of a different meaning for them. Bc could be before change ad after dachange. Lol, not good examples I just think the change is dumb and minscule.

 

If only this was in New Zealand as well. I definitely support them doing so. The fact that it was like that is a sign of a close-minded society. The fact that they're changing it is showing development, moving away from the generalisation that everyone is christian. I'm a strong atheist, and as minor as this is, it's been bothering me for years(I'm like that, get over it).

 

Religions are in the hearts, not on the dates.

 

This is just going to make it confusing. Of all the things people can dispute they really go after B.C.? :cripes: Not surprised that this is happening and we'll just have to deal with it.

 

Should be BCE anyway.

 

I doubt its a very big deal, if the date's really mean that much to you, you can still recognize. Because they aren't recognized nationally doesn't mean very much... -_-

 

To say that changing to BCE will cause riots is rediculous. If it's that big of a goddamn deal that you with publicly throw a temper tantrum, your an idiot. I'm jewish and I find nothing wrong with either option. And unlike some people in this thread, just because you don't agree with BC/AD doesn't mean you instantly think Christ never existed. I honestly think he WAS a real person, but I don't believe in the whole following behind him.Anyways, that bishop should get his panties out of a knot and let Australia have BCE/CE, like a lot of other places have.

It is a confusing subject. The earth has been around billions of years, and you can't necessarily call this year 4,621,045,2011 or whatever year this technically is.
You can't call the birth of Christ year 0 can you? That is implying that is the first day of the earths existence.
