Sythe's 10th Anniversary
This show continues to provide the most bull crap cliff hangers ever I swear it's like every episode is the season finale.

Boring show anyway, low budget, smokey voice actress, 100's of better shows to watch

^I agree.

I can't take it anymore. I don't understand how you guys think it's such a great show. It's literally the worst show I have ever watched. It's cheesy, stupid, and unoriginal, with bunch of overly dramatic characters. Not to mention its unrealistic and not even sensible lmao. 'The Hood' does not even cover his face and its obvious as fuck who he is, especially when he's fighting. (his whole face shows so how can people not realize it???) I for one won't be watching any more episodes, it's simply terrible.

Because a zombie apocalypse is so realistic. A shotgun having unlimited ammo. A tank being inferior to mostly untrained marksmen. Overly dramatic characters + nonsensical sequencing is The Walking Dead's forte. The Walking Dead is also unoriginal. The acting is also sub-par at best in TWD. Yet you're a big fan of that? Please...literally all your critiques of this show can be applied tenfold to TWD. The Governor was a terrible actor + character....I cannot believe you critique Arrow this way yet laud TWD in that thread when that show has gone to complete shit...getting by on a saturated concept of an apocalypse and using sex appeal to keep people entertained. I fully accept + acknowledge that Arrow has flaws, but there's been more plot progression in Arrow in two seasons than The Walking Dead has had in FOUR.

And I'm simply using The Walking Dead as an example because I can mirror your critique point by point and argue the same about that show.

@Banshee, please list them? Let me guess Pokemon, Avatar, Beyblade...

LOL

@Brian - Since when are cliffhangers a bad thing? Almost all shows do that... no idea what you're on about. It's not like nothing happens in the episode before the end. Cough beating a dead horse here..or a dead zombie....The Walking Dead does the same thing. 50 minutes of minimal plot progression. Cliffhanger ending to get people back for more.

I think TWD is still watchable.. but see its mainstream following and that I question. People question Arrow's following? How? It's a DC centered show with a myriad of recognizable characters...hell I wouldn't be surprised with a Bruce Wayne cameo. Arrow is no less cheesy than any of the Batman movies were..and those were considered masterpieces. Arrow has a long way to go.....but it just started. It has promise.

Just my two cents Heads, I respect your opinion and fully recognize it has flaws. But playing Devils Advocate here, I'd be interested to hear in how you think TWD, or most other shows, are any different. I don't think it really matters that he's recognizable under the hood. In Smallville, Clark Kent wore nothing and was still supposed to be thought of as an anonymous hero for much of that series. It's suspension of the obvious belief..as it's a TV show. It's not bound by outright realism.

Lastly, I'm interested if you guys just saw random episodes, or actually started from the beginning? Arrow is a show that will seem absurd if you are just casually watching episodes out of sequence. It isn't insanely linear, but to understand the overall concept of the show..you'd have to start from the beginning. It's not like a Burn Notice or NCIS, casual show you can jump right into.

I'm not trying to make you fans of the show, you're fully/justifiably able to hate it. No show will have 100 percent success in having everyone like it. I'm just responding to the general critiques, and don't mean to attack anyone of a negative opinion. If it seems that way, I apologize. But I will defend Arrow. I see more positives in it than negatives. Corniness is unavoidable in almost all shows, and I don't find that to be a valid argument to dismiss a show. House of Cards, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, all has its fair share of corny moments.

Tell them duke! :D And personally its everyones own opinion. If you dont like the show you dont like it. I personally love the show and don't agree with you heads. But as i said, its everyone's own opinion.

Heads is a smart guy. I don't underestimate his ability to critique things intelligently. I just found this particular critique a bit too broad + applicable to many shows. Television is beautiful because it suspends reality!

Another thing- The Creator himself even said the Second Season Finale will make the first look like a student film. I think they know it's been amateurish at times. Whereas I've seen shows that have started out fantastically and then gotten complacent. It's good that they strive to do better.

I've seen the first two episodes, it just wasn't all that appealing.

I respect that. I realize it cant appeal to everyone. Though I was sort of wondering why all of a sudden there were successive posts of hate towards it. Seemed to come out of nowhere. Maybe because this thread has been around a while? Idk. Seems like the answers would have been more appropriate for SuF's thread of disliked shows that a lot of people like.

The Walking Dead is far superior to Arrow.

Arrow, while fun and enjoyable, lacks a lot of character development, makes quick decisions, forces drama down our throats, and has a few bad acting examples. The WD, just like any other show, suffers from these flaws as well, but too a much less degree. It evolves dynamic characters, puts them in difficult situations, and actually gives us a pretty good example that even in an apocalyptic situation HUMANS are still the worst kind of monsters. The last few seasons were weak, yes, but it had a lot of development and focused sorely on the characters. If you like them equally, it's fine, but The Walking dead is far better than many shows and doesn't get enough credit.

This is a much better formulated response. Thank you. I guess it appeals to your tastes a little bit over mine. I watch both, as you do. I will agree with the quick decisions. It seems the Arrow writers have bitten off more than they can chew and are introducing characters way too fast. I do think that the character development for Oliver + Slade has been executed well, though. It's sort of like TWD introducing characters, they don't normally have a lot of development either. My biggest problem isn't the lack of action in TWD, it's the, at times, very bipolar character development. I will give them a pass on The Governor, though. He left the show without much notice, to go to another show, and they were forced to put his episodes in succession. That is the downside of these shows, actors come and go as they please nowadays.

But thank you for the clarification. As I said, I know you're a smart dude..I can definitely accept that criticism of the show.

The Walking Dead is by far one of the best shows I've ever watched. I watched 20 minutes of an episode of Arrow and I couldn't do it, it's so predictable and it loses the audience to quick. However with Walking Dead it gives you an insight on what a zombie apocalypse (as there's a chance it could happen) however none of us on sythe are a billionaire super hero.

I can't say the walking dead is my absolute favourite show but in my opinion it is far superior too Arrow. The Walking Dead has better character build up, acting, and is better at holding the audience's attention.

I have to go ahead and disagree with one thing. I don't think The Walking Dead is unpredictable at all. This could be a consequence of me watching way too much television-- which I admit, I do. The whole Glenn + Maggie sequence with Maggie looking for Glenn on the bus and them trying to make it all suspenseful and stuff..it was so obvious to me Glenn was fine. There are a lot of instances I can take out of that, that was just the first that came to mind. Whereas the ambiguity of Malcolm Merlyn's fate in Arrow was not that predictable at all.

My initial post was not meant to compare Arrow and The Walking Dead...they are so different. My initial post was just to prove that I could replace Arrow as the show being analyzed, and use the same exact reasoning against TWD. I just knew Heads was a fan of TWD, as am I, I post in that thread too. That was the only reason TWD was analyzed.

Also, there's about the same chance I become master archer as there being a zombie apocalypse. I don't think Oliver Queen's networth is supposed to be that important. It's just how he went from a billionaire playboy with not even a sliver of moral fiber in his being...to being a vigilante super hero with his own code and justice system.

Also...20 minutes is an unfair sample size to any television show. That's like judging a book by its introduction or first chapter...

New episode was yesterday :) It was pretty good :D

Lotta backstory last night. I enjoyed it. I missed a lot of subtleties though because I was preoccupied with homework. I'll re-watch it.

Wasn't a great Episode. The scenes that involved Slade in the present time were cheesy and hardly pragmatic. I also dislike the way that in general that altruism is perceived as achievable.

I agree, I was hoping that the meeting between them would be much more insane and groundbreaking. But when Oliver saw him last week it was just like "oh hai Slade". That's one of my main gripes about the show too, which is why I see why Heads had a valid bone to pick with the show... I can just hope it ultimately finds a consistency to it.

Good analysis though, I agree completely. We still have quite a lot of season 2 to enjoy though, let's see what they pull out for us next. I do wish they would slow down with the introduction of characters though. Also, I wouldn't mind another Malcolm Merlyn appearance. It's really the only thing that makes Thea relevant.
