I don't think questions like these should be answered. It's not like we're going to be able to do anything about it. All I'm interested in is the future and what it holds (hopefully another 70+ years for me). We live, we die. Every single one of us. Try and make the best of it :) only YOU can!

Maybe it's just people finding meaning in their own lives whether that be through the 'escape' of drugs, or the chaos of crime. Looking at it from a different angle, maybe it's about finding meaning in your own life rather than life in general.

Either way, I think our purpose is just to survive, build, and breed. We're not too different from other species of the world. Everything else in between, like the pursuit of 'success,' is to fill the void- Pass time.

Man, that article was hilarious! :D This guy is trying to build arguments based on movies and videogames. As well as appeal to the complexity of quantum physics as evidence.

And at the end of the article he basically perfectly sums up confirmation bias as well as admits his theory is unfalsifiable and therefore outside of the realm of science:
"All of my observations about the world we live in fit into this simulation idea and can be explained by it."

Anyway...I see zero evidence for this belief. Although I would be glad to find out which person decided it would be funny for me to have simulated erectile dysfunction every. single. night.

It could be quite possibly....reality is a very sketchy thing. We could be a game within a game within a game....i find things like....skeletons being used in the process ofmaking movies/games creepy...without the skeletons the bodys wont move properly....then you have things like the sims as someone mentioned before....virtual currency....now we are seeing a liable source of VR for the first time, truth is if we are we will never know.

We're an experiment of many. Too see how selfishly or selflessly we live our lives

It's all perspective. You may see it as A: We have a universe or B: We have a universe in a computer. However, some may see it as A: We have this amazingly intricate and highly improbable existence inside an incredibly vast and mind-bendingly complex universe or B: It's just a simulation created inside a computer. For example, the following excerpts from the original article explain it much better:

No, we are the offspring of the most intelligent beings who visited our planet not only during the first stages of human evolution, but also throughout history.

Think about science just for a moment and you'll realize there is no possible way for a mammal like species to evolve at such a fast rate. Especially after the mass wipe out of their competition and life supports. What are they going to survive on? What reason would they have to fight for survival?

We're able to create test tube babies now days. So who's to say that if some intelligent beings visited us along with other planets ages ago, that they wouldn't be able to do the same thing we're able to do now while combining their own DNA with ours to make us better?

Who can deny that these beings were so advanced that they knew we could never evolve with certain life forms and planetary conditions being present? Maybe they purposely saved certain forms of life and caused a natural disaster to rid the planet of the things that would be able to ruin their project?
