Why do mods lock threads when they are on the wrong section?

Does moving them not give modscore? I remember when I was a mod I used to move threads all the time. The mod that locked this didn't even leave a reply so if it was requested he should have posted "Requested lock" like everyone else or else move it to job listings / resumes.

I don't see why they don't just move.

 

Maybe a sectional locked it. I do see globals locking threads instead of moving them though.

 

someone locked it because he already made a thread in the lol section.

Typically if I lock something either they've corrected their action by posting a thread in the correct section or the thread was to bypass the 1 thread for each item rule.

 

as mentioned, i also try not to lock things unless they're duplicate threads in other sections. and generally, i much prefer moving threads to locking them since moving threads feels good in a "cleaning up" sense, whereas locking feels like you're leaving junk around

 

Well get everyone on the same page, someone isn't doing it as they should.

 

It's not a big deal, OP can just make a new thread pretty easily. Locking it saying it's in the wrong section or moving it are both acceptable
