Are Asians really more intelligent?

if we elaborate:
the most successful asians have the money to immigrate here from china/korea.
Hence, they will turn their children into study-slaves who will give up life in order to read books literally 24/7 and be better in performance than their american counterparts. Hence, there will be a retardation of social skills which is why most asians are quiet. They sacrifice a lot of time towards doing very well in something, like school, which is why they come up as smarter.

The Asians in the US are vastly from the top 5% tier of intelligence in Asia. Given that intelligence is highly correlated to genetics, do a bit of math to find out how foolish you are.

 

I think it's just apart of the environment they're brought up in. Being asian alone doesn't give you an advantage.

 

This is true, we lived next to this asian family, she made her son study when he got home from school untill 11 at night. He could only take a break to eat dinner.

Perhaps over time, parents favored the children who were generally smarter, and the less fortunate children were not cared for as much, so through the process of natural selection many Asians were born a slight bit smarter. Because not much time has passed since a good establishment of education and favoring of smarter children though, it's not a dramatic difference.

 

Or because of the harsher environment they had to adapt to in prehistoric times, they have naturally superior intelligence.

 

Asians actually are smarter I have done a paper on it and did research. The research is similar to wcer said.

Hehe. I have been waiting for this question to pop up. I recently read the book Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. There was actually a chapter on this. Simply, Gladwell stated that Asians tend to do better because of their traditions and habits. A big portion of the Asian diet consists of rice. Rice farmers used to work very hard. In rice paddy farming, the harder you worked your paddy, the more you would get out of it. This quality of hard working got passed down through generations. Another point Malcolm Gladwell made was language differences. Chinese number words are remarkably brief. Most of them can be uttered in less than one-quarter of a second (for instance, 4 is 'si' and 7 'qi') Their English equivalents—"four," "seven"—are longer: pronouncing them takes about one-third of a second. The memory gap between English and Chinese apparently is entirely due to this difference in length. I just thought I'd point this out. It was also a great book. I recomend it.

That is false. You must've had bad information. There are plenty of stupid(for lack of a better word) Asians. Just as there are stupid Caucasions and Africans Americans. A lot of Asians just have hard working attitudes and habits already "built-in". I'd like to see you defend your point.

 

yea they are more intellegent, like they know lots of languages and whatnot. once on tv i saw some guy smacks little kids with a whip or something and makes them learn math very hard. and like when they have to solve all this multi step shit thats for like senior stuff (such as calculus) they like literally RAPE the papers in like SECONDS. they like jump on it. and idk they like it i guess coz the teacher said that they always return to learn more. and have u ever seen them play instruments. for a regular person u must be like raped all day and night to play that good like they do. but still in all other parts they are very smart intelligent people.

 

Asians are smarter academically due to 2 reason:
Parents pushing them
Starting at an early age

Also, how hard one devotes to schoolwork is a major factor. Everyone can be like Einstein; it's just how much one can stay focused and improve upon the field that one is studying.

Although each character in Chinese is one syllable, comprising a phrase can often take longer. The grammar lacks any sort of tense, requiring the time to be prestated.

Language difference is an extremely poor explanation for the hypothetical "memory" gap.

 

Chinese grammar is so simple that it requires hardly any thought at all. Hell, all Sino-Tibetan languages share this grammar simplicity. The Indo-European languages are all confusing as hell to a Chinese outsider.

 

Not really, I can fluently speak it and it takes some thought because depending on how you say a word, you could mean it in another way :\

It's all about pronunciation and I think their language sophistication also has something to do with it.
