[Denied] April Fools for unthemed minirank contest

Every holiday, we do CDT contests, and one of them is traditionally to design the minirank for that holiday.

I think once a year, users should be invited to submit miniranks with no theme, just whatever the hell they want, and we'd add one winner to the list. April Fools is an arbitrary day, people in humorous spirits, but it doesn't really matter as long as it's not hosted on a national holiday that might otherwise receive a themed minirank.

The creator would receive the minirank, and it'll be distributed to the community similar to how over rares are (heidy through dicing as an example, electric rat, or however else generic miniranks are distributed proportionate to their rarity)

and I would say no to keep with the totally un-themed nature, but I wouldn’t be mad at adding a year if users preferred. I think “rarity” is totally arbitrary, but I think a year mark would reduce rarity and demand, or maybe it’d make it even more coveted like the legacy donor ranks, idk!

Agree, I mentioned and just for clarity I’ll post again I think only the winner should receive their mini rank. So that’d be only one mini rank given out for the year

 

Wouldn't this be better if it this was just an one-time event rather than trying this as an holiday event? Perhaps this will make stuff more complicated. I'm more of a fan to keep the holiday minirank threads dedicated to the holidays. Having the yearnumber removed from the bottom would probably already help in most of the minirank's prices, and possibly even the participation in it.

I do think time would need to be spent putting thought into the specifics (one time only event or yearly/who gets the minirank and how, etc.).

 

I propose the specifics to be:

• Yearly event, adding one minirank per year is not frequent whatsoever, and will keep a good balance of minirank diversity and deman
• ONLY the creator of the first place winner gets a copy of their minirank by default
• Additional minirank copies are distributed in future CDT events, dicing threads, by unique criteria that matches the design of the winner (for example if the winning minirank was something about weebs, then @Andy would get one), and additional discretion of the admin team
• NO year stamp and NO themes. Totally random submissions are encouraged

 

I love any and all miniranks, as well as ways to obtain them. So I support this.
