[DENIED] Bring back guests on IP Audits

An example I could find was this picture:


As you can see "pleaselook" has a user ID of "0" which means he posted as a guest. This used to show up on the IP audits of people, but for some reason it no longer does that. One example I could use what could've made this to great use was this ban evader report. In this case I would've known he was ban evading when I looked him up, instead of when I just came across him right now.

I'd assume the community would assume bringing this feature back as a disgrace because we'll most likely figure each and everyone's nasty past out, but this will be extremely useful in keeping the community clean from trash. Excuse my use of words, but let's just make ourselves believe for a moment that this suggestion doesn't come from me, but from an individual that handles alot of pardons - also in their case this would help alot.

 

No support, this won’t stop mischievous users from just making a new account after they’re banned. Time can be better spent elsewhere.

 

At what point does having such hardline stances against ban evaders begin to damage the site :thinking: both in activity and monetarily.

Its well known that the vast majority of donations come through ban evaders and other "bad" people, I was a bond holder twice and literally 80% of the people I donated for are now banned or were ban evaders.

At some point we have to say where is the line at, where does this start killing the site giving staff more and more tools, we are ultimately heading towards where donations and activity are going to be destroyed because staff are catching ban evaders the day they join. There's a difference between reasonable regulation of them and overkill, this is overkill.

You did at least include an example in your suggestion this time so I can actually consider where it will be applied which I appreciate but for now;

I mean, I'm a DNT, and vaded. You can look at me and be like this fucker, yep that's fine with me. But @Divine your logic is retarded here mate, banning a vader on day 1 is the point of banning vaders in general. Rubin will tell you that he reports new and old vaders every single day, just because of how his mind works. There shouldn't be a "reasonable" regulation of rules, they are rules for a reason, follow them and everything is peachy, or face the consequences of being DNT'ed or banned. Although I do feel like this will lead to a lower userbase in general because of more bans, this is necessary for staff to properly do their jobs, make this honestly part of staff tools, not normal users, so honestly keep it away from me and other people who report vaders usually as well. I'll support if it only goes to staff tools.

 

Support. It's a very useful addition to the IPAudit tool.

Also, I think everybody is referencing the userbase way too much in these kind of suggestions. Yes, of course, user numbers may drop marginally due to stricter rules. But prevention and being more easy going doesn't generate new users. That is what other developments should accomplish. Such as, other game market sections, and other discussion sections for social engagement.

 

That's wishful thinking, none of those things happen, it's one thing to act like they do or there is "progress" being made but the fact is after almost 2 years nothing has been done.

It took us what 3-4 months to get a Fornite section added? There is no social media presence or "other" developments, that's just wishful thinking IMO.

We've got a dead RSPS project(That the industry is 1/10th the size it was a few years ago and shrinking), sythelib which generates no income and very few visitors, a completely dead PR team and sythe has no facebook,twitter or youtube presence at all, a discord that 90% has moved to a non-sythe discord(the OSRS chat), the lowest amount of gold sites and business's remaining on sythe in recorded history, the lowest CDT event involvement in history(One event only had 2 entrys and 9 posts on it!).

Hence my argument that retain and conserve as much of the base is what needs to be done against giving staff more tools to wipe out our remaining base of people.

I agree with you Lime that's what SHOULD be bringing people in but the fact is it does not, I'm just being realistic about where Sythe really is IMO.

"should" - define that word for me please, I didn't say it's what does happen.

If whatever data you're referring to with "after almost 2 years nothing has been done" is correct, then my point made above is even more so accurate. In other words, rather than focusing on minor issues, focus on the bigger picture instead.

I do not know enough about Fortnite to comment. Maybe that was too long, or maybe there wasn't a big enough industry. And by big i mean every average joe buying services after school/work. Not a niche audience. Prime example of what i mean by this is during the pokemon GO hype. Everybody was engaging in the market whether they knew it or not. Local facebook groups were engaging with the spoofing software and buying powerlevels etc. Did this happen with Fortnite? If it did then you're right, a section should have been made earlier. I don't know, so you know more than me with that one.

The RSPS project is a classic example of a motivational vision. Then when it comes down to the technical work, everybody procrastinates. This happens with all of the botting sites, and also many other competing private servers. The amount of RSPS' that get made compared to how many actually succeed is laughable in itself. I've never really followed it so if it is being developed all I can argue is that its being developed too slow to actually succeed now. The idea has come, and is already going before its even complete.

While you are correct here, the de-regulation of new users will not equate to a stronger community. The things you have listed can only be fixed by people who care about Sythe in the first place, not by normalizing ban evading.

Support. Wouldn't see why this shouldn't get passed, especially b/c it's being suggested by the #1 ban evader reporter. I think he'd know best, @ all of you people who voted no support.

 

Support, evaders are getting away for far too long. They're establishing themselves within the community then scam quitting for reasonable amounts almost weekly. Its to the point everyone is suspicious of everyone and nobody knows who to trust anymore. Most damaging for the community as far as I can tell.

 

Support, as someone that has been scam'quitted multiple times in the past this could've saved me sometimes.

 

Would suggest leaving this to be a mod-only permission if possible. People posting privately want to hide their identity for a reason. Otherwise it would kind of defeat the purpose of posting as a guest - no? perhaps I am misunderstanding.

 

Not sure if this has been mentioned as I don't have the time to read all replies but Personal Support has the option to post as a guest for privacy reasons. If anyone could click on your ip audit and find out your personal secrets it would kinda defeat that purpose. I know not many people do it anyways, but it's a cool option to have for people who need help but are afraid to say so under their own name
