I think it would be a good addition to choose another admin or trusted staff member who is able to "approve" pending donations. Matthew is busy I'm sure of, and it will stop the delay.

The donations have been getting handled pretty quickly and efficiently recently with the new system. I don't understand where you're getting this from.

You made a similar thread to this a few days ago, which was denied in the end - http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1470546

Well, donation perk change requests are getting done more quickly lately. SellerMan made and submitted a new UT an hour or so ago, and it was approved almost straight away.

I know my thread was denied, but this isn't the same thing. I know verts handles the user title approvals, but not the donation ones. Really not sure where you're getting at.

/facepalm. ok I thought you were on about donation perk requests.

I'm not sure who else but Matthew could do donation request approvals, Govind maybe? To my knowledge PayPal donations are approved instantly, while RSGP donations take a little longer as the RSGP has to be transferred, Matthew has to come on, approve this and that and so on. But honestly RSGP donations don't take THAT long, and it annoys me sometimes that people can't be patient enough to wait a few hours to an extra day or so. You've donated to the site, isn't that the whole purpose of donating?

I knew it was going to take a while for matthew to get on, but I'm saying the process would be faster if there was someone who can do it with him. Also I donated for the perks as I'm sure everyone does. I've donated 2 times before this and haven't complained once, but if you read what I said, it makes things faster.

The way to the donation center works is that it can only fully operate for one person, aka It was made to only work for Matthew, Matthew has said this himself. I'm confident in saying that he has planned or is intending on making it multi-admin support, but this will require a lot of time and effort from him writing the rework that he'll have to do, Bare in mind the donation center is custom made and only written by him and him alone, just before anyone says that he could have govind or someone try and add multi-admin support if he's too busy, both of them have different styles of programming, so it wouldn't really work.

Either way, the current method is fast(er). IF donation center is expanded then the only person I see it expanding to is sythe.

    Ah okay I see, thanks.

Also @ Laptop, there is a reason for users to suggest new things. Most likely these suggestions will make the site run faster.

So you're saying, those who complain about the loading time of the site are lazy, and so forth. I know matthew is busy and I'm able to wait a week no problem.

Yah that's true, but I don't understand why some people can't just wait for a little bit for it to go through, sure everyone likes perks, but they're just a bonus to be honest, the main purpose of donating is for it to Sythe.org

And yes it does make things faster, it's just it's up to Matthew and probably Sythe too if they want to allow someone else to do it. The only people I can honestly think of would be Govind or possibly the Administrators.

Has Matthew ever said anything about possibly having someone else approve them alongside him?

No, I'm saying they're just impatient. Oh and, I'm happy you made a suggestion on this, if we didn't create suggestions, then the site would have no creativity.

--- Does someone want to PM Matthew and ask him on his opinion on all this?

The approval can also be handled by other people. I can see it, but when I access it I get that I'm not allowed.

It would be cool if more admins had the possibility to approve perk requests.

And eventually bond-processed donations will be instant. (That's what Matthew told me)

If you were here before the new donation system, you'd realise how much faster it is nowadays.

*sighs* Everyone wants things instantly nowadays.

Most donation methods aren't instant. I can wait a week no problem, it was just a suggestion. I understand the importance of life.

    Are you new?

The old donation system; paypal; was obviously more faster. The new donation system leaves you waiting up to 2-weeks before reviving your benefits.

His suggestion is getting more staff to participate in the donations instead of one person. As it should be, there shouldn't be multiple admins and only one who's in charge of the donations.

Uh actually the old donation system was cash by mail, at least that was one of them. You essentially had to put the donation money in an envelope and had to mail it to a PO box where Matthew would pick it up and then apply it to your account, trust me it took a lot longer than what we have now. I think Mail in Cash was disabled when Matthew moved house a few months back.

Anyway, I still think Matthew should say what he thinks on this.

I think Matthew would honestly like the help with donations, he just doesn't want to bother anyone else with it.

Needless to say, i completely support this.

If I remember correctly, I remember hearing something about Matthew planning on taking on some extra help, BUT as Karl has already said - Matthew himself will have to take the time to code it into HIS donation system as he's the one who wrote it from the ground up. Matthew will do it if and when he wants to, and I doubt this is the first suggestion of the type.

    I'm closing this.

I'm currently (as I write this) working on a new donation center.

The existing donation center did not allow other admins beside myself to appropriately manage pending donations and user perk requests. So, I'm writing a new donation center which will allow other admins/users to handle pending requests.

I've been working on this daily for the most part and hope to have the code out soon. This is a large project and I've basically rewritten the entire donation system, so it may take me a bit longer to release.

    But, it is coming soon!
