    I don't think that can happen. I don't know about the (global) economy, but I'm sure people learned from the great depression?

    Even if there is a financial collapse some people will make money off it, traders can short the stock market and such and inverse leverage etf, such as Direxion Daily Small Cap Bear 3X Shares (tza) stock abbreviation. Reccesions bring new opportunities for every people to make a lot of money.

    Commodities, agriculture.

    Today, depression = hyper inflation. Wasn't so in the past, but reserve bank policies change. Today every fiat money printer in every corner of the globe is in agreement that what you do when there is a recession is you print money.

    This will send food prices higher, this will send commodities higher.

    Best advice: buy yourself land where you can grow some food. Short of revolution (or a productivity boom equivalent to the computerization of industry) this depression is going to be grinding and long and poverty stricken.

    In the worst of times, take advantage of those falling and use them to step up above you. It's a harsh world, and all is fair in war.
