    Dear iPod nano owner,

Apple has determined that, in very rare cases, the battery in the iPod nano (1st generation) may overheat and pose a safety risk. Affected iPod nanos were sold between September 2005 and December 2006.

This issue has been traced to a single battery supplier that produced batteries with a manufacturing defect. While the possibility of an incident is rare, the likelihood increases as the battery ages.

Apple recommends that you stop using your iPod nano (1st gen) and follow the process noted below to order a replacement unit, free of charge.

So basically, you enter your serial number which is on the back to see if your ipod is one of the affected and they will ask you to send in your nano and they will replace it.

Idk what they will be replacing it with though, probably a referbished nano, or if we're lucky a current generation nano? but i doubt it haha :D

Heres the link to the apple website; http://www.apple.com/support/ipodnano_replacement/

Apple seems to have a lot of issues with their timebomb batteries, but at least people who still have the 1st gen can maybe get a newer upgrade. Bad news in one sense, but good news in another.

They're probably recalling it because it's the only iPod that they didn't program to brainwash it's users and they need to get as many people to give them back and get a new iPod with the updated brainwash software.

Hmm. I bought a first generation, and I believe it was around this time too . I remember saving up for like a year of lunch money lol. >_>

Now if only I could find the damn thing.

You think keeping the original will be worth more money in the future?

I think I still have one, it still runs ok though. No harm in sending it in anyway. It took them 5 years to notice this?

Didn't think they would care about the 1st generation that was made 5-6 years ago. I guess thats Apple for you.
