Apple: Announcement of iPod Touch 6th Gen

On 15th July, Apple took everyone by surprise and announced the new 6th generation iPod Touch. They also unveiled new colors for the iPod Shuffle and iPod Nano, but the internal components of both of those devices stayed the same. The new iPod Touch also comes in a variety of different colors, but more importantly, Apple has decided to upgrade the internal components of the iPod Touch. It is now basically equivalent to the iPhone 6 in terms of power.

The last time the iPod Touch was revamped was nearly 3 years ago, so as you can already tell, many Apple fanatics were already anticipating this news. The iPod Touch 6th generation has improved a lot over the iPod Touch 5th generation. Some of the biggest changes would have to be the new 64-bit A8 processor, which is a huge improvement over the now-outdated A5 processor that powered the 5th generation iPod Touch. The new revamp also comes with a 8 megapixel rear facing camera compared to the 5 megapixel camera we saw in the 5th generation iPod Touch. Other changes include the integration of the M chip, which is basically the motion tracking chip used for fitness apps and a stronger WiFi receiver. The size of the screen is still 4 inches, and the overall design and look of the iPod generally remained the same.

The iPod Touch 6th generation will be available to purchase starting 15th July. The base model with cost you $199 with 16GB of storage space. Three other models are also available: the 32GB edition coming in at $249, 64GB edition for $299 and finally, the 128GB edition, which is only available through the Apple Store, coming in at $399. The new iPod will also come in the following colors: space gray, silver, pink, gold, blue, and much like the 5th generation iPod Touch, an exclusive red color only available through the Apple Store.

Honestly I think most people at this point just use their phones for music. Androids are especially great at it considering most of their models are expandable, so popping a bunch of tunes onto a micro SD just becomes the best way to listen to music. No iTunes either ^_^

 

Eh, you have to pay careful attention to the audio related hardware the android phone is using. I've experienced excellent to absolute trash. A lot of cheap android phone throw in $0.15 DAC's and it really doesn't do the phone any favors.

As far as the announcement goes, I've been seeing a lot of it recently in tech related news. I've always liked ipod touches, and they'd be great for kids and younger teens for music and games. The price point isn't too disgusting either, which is a plus.

This is true, but personally I have an android phone (SGS5) and an iPod Touch 5th Gen which I take everywhere because as much as I dislike OSx + iOS as operating systems, I like the ease of use for organizing my music that comes with iTunes.

I've used both Android and iOS for music and have gotten about the same level of control, what is it exactly that you're trying to do?

 

Trying to do? I don't understand your question.
I use iTunes to organize all of my music on my PC, and it's just easiest to have an Apple device for my music as it syncs straight to it with all of my playlists etc.

 

I personally don't enjoy the hassle of going through iTunes to sync my music to my iOS device. I've switched from my iPhone to an Android and I really enjoy just dragging mp3 files into the device. It's a lot more easy for me.

However, I still get where you're coming from. iTunes organizes your music very professionally and can make it easy for users that are familiar with it already.

 

The last time I used itunes I had given up on it forever because it wouldn't recognize or save music that I had purchased and then lost due to a broken drive. Customer support was complete shit and didn't know what they were doing to the point of not understanding the fundamental problem that the music I had purchased through their site was no longer available for me to download. This was years back, however, and I assume the problem is fixed now but I'm still extremely salty about this experience and I absolutely prefer android devices now.
