Recent MoneyPak Changes?

MoneyPak cards use to have a code on the back for redeeming the money on the card, but recently I tried to buy a MoneyPak and there was no code on the back.

This seems like a big deal since a lot of markets accept MoneyPak as a safe transactions. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

 

Then how did you redeem it?
Maybe you just got a faullty card?

 

Well the 7/11 I went to had a full stock of the new MoneyPak cards. The instructions on the card mentioned reloading a debit card at the register which is not how the other MoneyPak cards work. I will try Walmart tomorrow and hopefully those cards have the code on the back.

 

Since when don't you load them at the register? That's the way it's worked for as long as I've known about mp... who cares if the code is scratch off?

 

Thats not what I'm saying. On the Official MoneyPak website frontpage it has an advertisement saying "No more scratch off numbers - simply swipe your card at the register". My concern is how I am suppose to send the MoneyPak money when their is literally no more code on the back of the card.

 

Oh that's new, my bad. Do the cards have numbers on the front now like normal credit cards? I guess I'm with you now - how do you redeem them, or are they just prepaid debit cards now?

Or you could just use these? or paypal mycash?

 

I don't remember seeing any numbers on the card. I'm just going to check different stores and try to find the old style MoneyPak.

In my area I often have troubles finding moneypak cards. At the local walmart they haven't had them in almost a year. I can only find them in oddball places. You often see these rapid reload cards they are trying to pitch off. Very frustrating on my end.

 

They already had a card similar to the service you are describing. It was a "Green Dot" card from the same company, which basically acts like a prepaid credit/debit card. Obviously functions less like cash, and does not have the ability to be deposited using a code.

Moneypaks were becoming a version of internet cash, and obviously the US govt cracked down on them. Over the past year, people went from being able to basically redeem unlimited amounts of Moneypaks, to being restricted after only ~$1,000.

All in all, it's time for this community to just forget about Moneypak and move to PayPal MyCash. They're much easier to process, probably partly because they are sold by PayPal themselves.

 

Are there any drawbacks to Paypal MyCash compared to moneypaks? I redeemed moneypaks until they blocked me in short time like you mentioned.

To confirm that its paid via cash not credit/debit?

 

pretty sure paypal made mycash cards because they realized moneypak was retarded. you'd most likely enjoy using a mycash card more.
