How To Get Your Account Back After Being E-mail Scammed

Hi, I have recently tried to sell my account on here, but then I was talking to someone that wanted to buy it and he said that he wanted to do 50/50, he wanted me to let him log-in on my account and change e-mail, then he would give me the half of the money, then I had to give him all the details, and then he would give me the other half.

He scammed me when I changed the e-mail, so I tried to recover my account, but it's asking for my registered e-mail and you have 6 attempts, all wrong of course, and at the 6th time you are temporarily banned from trying to recover your account.

That's when people give up, and lose their account, but there is something what they don't know: you can get your e-mail/recovery questions deleted by the one and only jagex.

Comment that someone got full control over your account and that he changed the e-mail address while you were away.
Then you can acces the recover page again, and get your account back if your appeal is succesfull.

Note: I am posting this, since many users lost their accounts and don't know how to get their accounts back, though they got the right account information.

this should be posted in runescape general, because this isnt relavent for every sythe member

 

If that happens, just go on the forums tell them your situation. They will most likely lock the account and give you manual recovery system form. They will give you your old email back and clear your recoveries most likely.

 

go on runescape forum and tell them you sold an account here on sythe and that you were scammed? good one, that will just get your account perm banned with no chance of getting it back.

Well move it back to Feedback please, because I found it very bad that Sythe won't make any announcements about this to make users aware.

 

Sythe announcements are for things relevant to all of sythe, high end users and about the site itself. This is neither of those and doesn't belong in feedback as it is not feedback at all. It's simply a nice share for all of those people that have found themselves in a spot of trouble.

 

While the OP is correct, you also have to be careful posting on that rsof thread. If you're not the original user, you won't be getting your account back. Doesn't matter how long you had access to it, you need to be the original owner to have a good chance at recovering the account.
