Anyone else thinks that Runescape is copying WoW?

I agree...I liked that runescape had like middle of the road graphics. I'm not saying their current graphics are astonishing, but idk it reminded me of when games were younger. The new site is not okay lol It literally gives nothing the old one used to

 

RS has one race...but.... so many different random non combat skills that you can show off, and a nice loyal community...minus the 2M+ 10 year olds....but vs WoW...when you die you dont keep your shit, which is population control which means alot of kids are recycling rares, expensive items.

STAKING=WIN OVER WOW...best idea ever...there is no other game that makes me shake from adrenaline after a 1b stake...

WoW is more competitive, and the fact that every fucking 85 is wearing the EXACT same gear always is kind of gay. They juice the fuck out of you for IRL money to do any action like swap realms, change names, change looks, gender etc. I have plenty of experience, 2.5k+ Arena Rating...so im not just talking out of my ass.

 

Even with this being said, runescape is indefinately trying to immitate WoW. Its been clear since the release of constitution, fullscreen options, summoning, etc. Also with the intense desire of Jagex trying to create more and more quests which obviously is a big part of any MMORPG, but Jagex is trying to immitate WoW's gameplay base of questing and such to attain the highest form of gameplay.

If you put it into perspective though, WoW is charging 5x as much for membership and is a much more stable game that RuneScape. Also WoW gameplay for some reason attracts a much larger age-group than RuneScape's, as is the game's acceptance to "societies" standards. People are much more willing to admit to WoW play than Runescape.

Tl;dr yes RS is trying to copy WoW.

 

I would hardly say that. No one is copying anyone. If your going to even bother saying that get ready to go through history of a ton of MMO's. All MMO's take things from each other, they all evolve with each other.

I played WoW for 5 years or so, and I can say, Runescape is nothing like WoW if you ask me.

 

The two games aren't comparable. We'll get used to the new set up just like we got used to the previous 589679578 new ones.

This. Do you all really think that all JaGex thinks about is "Oh, how can we make our game more like WoW? Let's focus all our attention on that!" No.

Sure, they changed their website layout again and added a new interface to the game. Sure, it may be similar to WoW and all of the other MMO's out there. JaGex aren't doing this to be a 'clone', they are doing it to bring more revenue. Spicing up the home site was a good move, in my opinion. I like how it looks, as well as the high scores. The new in-game interface is lacking, but I'm sure they will improve that as well.

JaGex has always done their own thing. I have been there since the beginning, so I can atest for that. They are trying to go more mainstream, and advertise their game a little bit more. They are a business, and as such they are most definitely entitled to do that. I think they should continue on the path they're on. If you don't like the game, updates, website, or shit on JaGex for them actually giving a shit and trying to improve the game, don't play it.

The truth is I wouldnt know because most RS members only really focus on RS and not another big MMO such as Wow.
