Any tips for an aspiring syther?

Don't get involved with anything that the Staff are arguing about. Stay neutral and don't pick a side ever.

 

Get post count, be active in popular sections like rs general and spam forum, donate, start a service to get known and do cheap shit, get nice gfx, etc.

 

It's really not hard. You just have to be completely legitimate and in time you will become more and more trusted.

There is always someone out there willing to take a chance and trust someone with 0 vouches, 1 post, etc. Use that one idiot to build your name up =p

Anyways work on this list. This is what I'm currently working on.

1. Vouches from DIFFERENT things, not just the same thing over and over again (GP sales, leveling service vouches, account sales, account purchases).
2. Post count (yes it matters, sadly).
3. Professionalism.
4. Gaining friends on Sythe an being nice to everyone (even the complete assholes).

Activity and legitimacy are the two main things.

 

If you are ever unsure of doing a trade and you can't seem to get in contact with an OMM or VMM for any reason then do a good background check on the person you are trading with.
Check their threads and posts, see if they post the same amount on all threads they post on.
Google "Sythe.org 'username' scam" to see if they have any pending scam reports.
Make sure to check WHAT they got vouched for and how much. If it's a lot more than what they are doing with you then you SHOULD be fine but incase you still are not sure, click on the big vouches to see if it's legit.
The only problem with sythe is not Sythe itself, it's the scammers. Everything else is fine. Just trade smart and post smart.
You don't have to have a high post count to get around on these forums, just a good reputation that can be built. Probably the BEST thing you can accomplish in this community is a good reputation.

 

Active, Honest service

 

To build on what Cheeter said, trust has to earned. Trust is given by the individual when they feel the time is right. Just because you give someone free training or bought them a pin doesn't make you any more trustworthy. (this applies to donors too). My honest advice, is don't try and prove your trust worthiness just create good long term friends and then the thought of scamming will never enter your mind.

 

Just be a legit, personable person and you will be fine. If you want to become trusted offer free services and build up a good rep and progress from there !

The key to being a successful member of any community is work hard, be a team player by offering help and services to the best of your knowledge (you will also gain knowledge along the way). Give back to your community e.g. donations. Be honest and everyone will come to get to know you better and in return you will receive respect. Also if you see something fishy like someone self vouching always report in the "report a scammer section". It never hurts to bring something to the mod's attention when you truly believe the accused is breaking the rules. With this being said don't spam that section unless you have viable proof otherwise you'll end up being the boy who cried wolf ;P.
