    Any drummers here?

ok i want to get a drum set (i have been thinking about it for a while), i dont wana get a crap one for like $200 that sounds awful, but lately i was thinking whether i should get an electronic one or an acoustic

i know with acoustic im gunna most likely have to get better symbols.

Anybody here that knows of any good electric or acoustic sets they could recommend? im looking to spend no more then $700

Well do not get a electric one.... those are really stupid, and if you want to be in a band you will look like a queer..
    say no too [IMG]

If your buying the pieces separately DEFINITELY get zildjian crash/symbals/hi-hat

Okay...don't buy RB or CB brand sets. They are horrible.

    And yeah, buy acoustic...not eletric.

Go for either Pearl, TAMA, or Yamaha.

The EX and Forum series are good Pearl sets. The Rockstar is a recommended TAMA set. And the Yamaha Rhyden is also good. All three of them are decent sets, as I myself own the Pearl EX, and none should cost over $700.

As for cymbals, Zildjian is better, however, it may be a bit more pricey.

    Any drummers here?

Well, since I know a thing or two about drums ill share my opinion :D

If your starting out, id HIGHLY suggest a Pearl Export, their is really no other choice than a pearl. I wouldnt suggest a pearl forum because thier a little less but they dont come with the suspended toms, and the shells have holes in them for the toms to hang from the bass drum.

this is my export, i'm so extreamly glad i bought this.

Ok now that is a 2005 export cherry with black hardware. now that you have your shells time to move onto the cymbals.

now when picking cymbals NOT SYMBOLS! ffs, it's really the sound your looking for. I use Zildjian Zbt rock 4 piece cymbals, i play mostly rock/metal, so those cymbals work best for you. I would suggest Zildjian cybmals because the quality is AMAZING! if you look in that pic you can kinda see mine. for $250 i got 14" high-hat 16" crash 20" ride 18" china, i also have a 16" wuhan china, i wouldnt suggest getting the cymbal pack with a china in it, get to crash cymbals insted, then buy a 18" Wuhan china, the sound in wuhan is crazy for metal and a 18" is only about $50 USD.

now that you got your cymbals, lets move onto hardware. I use Pacific boom stands, and a pearl high-hat. I have a pearl high-hat because it matches my pedal, which ill get into later. Just buy all Pacific boom stands for your set and they hold up great and they look good.

Heads: i use Evans G2 heads. If you play rock i would highly suggest thease heads. but thier kinda expensive. If your kinda low on cash i would suggest Remo pinstripes, their amazing for the low low price and they sound great. ALSO for heads, GET SILENCING RINGS!!!! unless you can tune your drum heads PERFECTLY get some rings, a set for 2 rack toms, floor tom, and snare will cost you about $20 which it is soooo worth the money.

Bass drum Pedal. This is just basically preference, i play rock so i had to get a Pearl 2000C Powershifter Eliminator double bass pedal, sooo extreamly smooth and it comes with interchanging Cams. Those cost around $250 now. Another option is the Tama Iron Cobra, one of the fastest pedals (besides Axis of course) known to drummers alike. you don't need a double bass pedal, but they are quiet fun to play on when ur good :] helps solo's look wayy better.

Finally... LOL my set cost around $1750 when i add everything together. so im not sure of your drumming style, or how big your wallet is, but i hope i can offer some help to you :p

Don't buy your drumset from musiciansfriend. When they say it takes 3-5 days to ship, it took them one month to ship 2 out of 5 boxes. Their customer service is horrible. I called them every single day, and every single day its a different story. So buy it from your local music store, they will probably match the price.

    Any drummers here?

id suggest buying a beginners set for about 300 bucks
after you beat the hell out of them and get better you should go for the big ones
DO NOT spend 700$ on your first set

EDIT: and how about you buy your set the old fashioned way
