Figured I'd post to see if anyone had any questions about the oil and gas industry and whatnot. I get questions a lot from friends who aren't in it and I figured I'd answer any of your questions that you may have. And I won't bullshit you. (All companies keep secrets) so if there's anything you want to know I guess ask away

Well I suppose we will keep producing oil because we have a lot to produce. And it gives jobs to a lot of people here in america. Also every country is in it for themseleves as are we. We want to make our people's lIves better and give jobs to the public and the oilfield is good for that. So no we aren't going to stop

 

When do you estimate Oil reserves will seriously start to dry up?

Or rather, when you do estimate the time will come when it will seriously start to become difficult to get the Oil?

No one can really predict when the oil will completely dry up. As technology advances it becomes esier for us to find more oil at greater depths. I can tell you that I am told that at least in colorado there will be more drilling for about another 16 Years but everything is subject to change.

Buncha retards in this thread but to answer laptop's question - within 50 years. There's a reason Tesla is so popular. Canada's Alberta tar sands are nowhere near dry, but are at the point where extraction costs outweigh sales profits. That's how it'll happen. Fracking and bullshit practices like it are just too damn expensive, plus absolutely terrible from an environmental perspective.

 

Well I was answering the question specifically about oil in america. And fracking currently is not more expensive than its worth. I have been on 4 frack sites in the past month and we are making profit. It's just less profit than we are use to. But profit all the same. And you're right. Fracking is dangerous for the enviroment. But generally all the chemicals and whatnot that we are pumping into the ground are contained by the cement and casing we put down there. And if there is a Crack or somthing in the containment it's like 14,000 feet down usually. It's not often that it's close to the surface but if it is then we have companies that do enviromental clean up to prevent too much damage.
