An Official Sythe Runescape Private Server

I support this but as other users have mentioned, it would require an investment and lots of support. Most of the current staff are most likely not skilled enough or interested in learning how to code and maintain a rsps and that poses another problem of having to find and hire a development team. Sythe is a large community and would, naturally, be held to very high standards.

 

If someone made this and it was active I'd probably play.

But don't really see any of the staff having the dedication to do this

 

Hire new staff who may be dedicated. Give them a mini-rank on Sythe suggesting they're a RSPS mod.

 

Even so, there are many other updates that need and should be done before an RSPS is even considered. Not to mention that plenty of RSPS already exist, I think it'd be a waste of time. Should admins be scratching their heads trying to figure out what updates to make, and the community can't suggest any, then this should be revisited.

 

Plenty of RSPS's exist, yes. But a lot of people would prefer to play a Sythe RSPS with Sythe community members. I feel like everyone that doesn't support this immediately expect the worst case scenario from the rsps.

 

Not exactly, I'm just looking at the reality of it. If they want to play with Sythe community members, I don't see any reason why they can't self organize and skill together. The main reason I say no is the amount of time this will take. It's not an easy thing to just create a well-functioning RSPS. It's also a whole different matter to keep it running with staff, and if Sythe would to do it, it would need to pay for itself, so to market it to keep people on it. I don't expect the worst case scenario. My point is that introducing an RSPS in a market that is already oversaturated with well established servers would be fairly difficult and not really necessary.

 

I do agree with your points. However, I feel you're being extremely negative. If Richard wanted to make this happen, he could. The sheer amount of donations should easily be able to pay for DDOS protection and the 1 month (trial) VPS to see how things go. I understand it takes time and it's hard to maintain, but you never know unless you try.

 

There's just no need currently when there are so many better options out there. Is this really something that he would want to spend the donation money towards?

If you, as a user would play on a RSPS with a generous amount of ~80 people online (assuming that 10% of the people currently browsing Sythe would play) on a RSPS with no distinguishing features other than the fact that it's "the official Sythe RSPS", then yeah sure. But I don't think most of the community would follow suit.

 

Every one of those servers started from somewhere. If someone was willing to put the time in, it can work.

Unless this is physically deemed impossible by Sythe because he:
A] Doesn't want to financially support it
B] Doesn't trust anyone aside from current Sythe staff to run it, assuming current staff were not interested
C] Any reason he wants because he owns this.

Then there's no reason why not. If he wants to spend donation money on it then he will and he can.

Seriously man? No offense but how the hell do you know that only 80 people are gonna play. "A rsps with no distinguishing features" How do you know that? What makes you think that they would just make an rsps with no distinguishing features. Sythe gets a shit ton of donations, you guys act like some brainless idiots are going to run the server smh. It's like no matter what you guys are assuming that the worst will happen.

If this was everybody's mindset then literally nobody would want to create a RSPS.

No support. I don't think making an RSPS is the best use of Sythe Staff's time.
I personally, would not play this, and I highly doubt anyone would for very long. It's a tempting prospect, but I suspect that this project would not last very long.

Sythe already has a CDT, and there are many events and contests that you can participate in to get more involved with the community. Hell, you could even make your own. The advantage of the CDT over an RSPS is that there is no long-term commitment or investment required, plus the CDT can adjust the games based on current trends.

I'd probably play my own server tbh, however if there was an official Sythe one I might hop on and play or help out.

 

I really enjoyed playing the previous RSPS, and would love to see it back.
