An idea?

I've noticed that this whole steam-buying-selling game relies mostly on trust, and as such, is particularly open to scams. So, why hasn't a website to trade SECURELY been set up? Say, a seller registers with the site, uploads a sales description, and also the username and password to the site. The ( reputable? ) admins of the site check everything's in order, then change the password and security question. A buyer simply clicks 'Pay with PayPal' and pays, the money going to the seller, and the username and password being emailed to the buyer.

If no-one can see any GLARING IDIOTIC PROBLEMS with this, would anyone like to join me in making this a reality? Or if something like this already exists, my bad.

 

well, I've personally tried to set this up with a buddy of mine. There is toooo many scams that could leave the seller screwed in the long run. For instance, I'll list a couple.


1. Buyer using a stolen paypal
2. Buyer using a stolen credit card
3. Seller not providing proof of purchase and then retrieving account later down the road.
4. Buying calling their credit card provider and asking them to take back the charge because they didn't "do it".
5. Sellers making new usernames, selling freshly phished accounts, and then getting the money sent to their paypal before the account gets retrieved.
6. People hacking usernames for registered users and changing their paypal recieval email, and stealling their money.

There is plenty more reasons, but thats just a few.

 

Eventually someone with access to hundreds/thousands of accounts is going to steal them and leave... Either that, or the site will be targeted by hackers and won't be long until the accounts are gone.
