Am I Retarded?

Is there anything wrong with me?
Whenever something extremely bad happens, I try to get my mind off it by thinking about better things, jerking off and such.

For example:
1. I once got into a automobile accident and had to pay $600 for damages. I just took my mind off it and acted like everything was okay
2. I found out that my girlfriend was cheating on me (really loved her) and I just immediately broke up with her. No hard feelings that lasted over an hour
3. I just got scammed $90 for a santa around 2 hours ago. Decided that it's spilt milk, and that I could do nothing about it. I'm feeling fine, and now I'm back on my feet.

I've never actually seen people who listened to "nothing you can do about it, just keep your head up"

Though it can be a good thing to be carefree, it also has it's negatives. People can easily take advantage of you by this, but you should just be more cautious in the future (with the scamming stuff for example). It doesn't make you a "retard."

Now, my english isn't like pro. So Ima just try to explain it, hope it'll help you.
You are a very 'sober' person. You can dissociate yourself from emotions. You've got a plain view on things. In relationships it can be rather fucked, but in the long run it's a gift.

If you're having alot of trouble with this, you can just get it 'less' by emotionally attaching you to people. It may take time but yeah. This way you can prove to urself that you can care.

The way you are is a gift not a curse. I think I'm well on my way to having anger/stress issues, because of how badly things affect me, and how long they do. If I just got $90 stolen from me, I'd be FURIOUS for days.

 

You're completely normal my friend. My parents often question my mentality towards things that should usually show discomfort, however I consider it more of a defence mechanism. If we're thinking of good, happy things then it takes our mind away from the negativety therefore our lives are immediately stress free. I think it's a really good, positive thing as opposed to a negative. I'm presuming your life is very stress free - which is a lot more than what can be said for the majority of the world! Despite this, it's important to be aware of the fact that certain manipulative people may see this so called "flaw" and abuse it, as long as you are aware of when someone is indeed trying to do this you will be completely fine.
