Honestly I grew up on video games. That one day that I got my N64 for Christmas was like giving heroin to a drug curious teen. Video games were my life for atleast 12 years of my life (I'm 17 now). While I can't say I was exactly a player during that phase, I managed to have a couple of girlfriends. Don't get the impression that every girl is the same, some accept things like video games more than others, and one day you will probably meet one. I don't play video games nearly as much as I used to, but I know they never got in the way of me getting a girlfriend. You need to realize that you'll never have to give up on them completely, especially if they're something you enjoy. If they cause you to lose the motivation to interact with the social world (that doesn't mean talking on xbox), then maybe you should cut back a bit. All that you're lacking is the motivation to go be social (force yourself to put the controller down sometimes), and the confidence to ask someone out. No homo, but I think you're fully capable of getting a girlfriend. You even said it yourself, you have the qualities that girls would like. Just try to start talking to women more, put yourself in situations where women are around you (parties, clubs if they're your thing, or hanging out with friends that you don't know extremely well (they could have some female friends that you may find interesting)). Realize that its not a big deal to get rejected. If you're contemplating asking someone out, you'll never know if they would or not unless you ask.

Haha yea, of course I enjoy hanging around girls. Idk, i'd say its like 45% girls, 55% guys. None I know that are into me are also into videogames Honestly, I blame my local area lol. No guy in town wants to date any local girls. They are all whores :O

If I were you (in the least offensive way possible), I'd start weight lifting. You seem to be on the larger side. I'd just get into the best shape possible if you're thinking about expanding your social life. I know it's very shallow for me to say this, but girls care about physical appearance a lot, maybe even more than personality now.

And make yourself an oath that you'll limit your gaming and start hanging out with friends. It's an effort to go out and hang out, but in the short and long run, it'll do you good.

 

I was in the same place that you were. Skipping school, faking sick, sneaking back up after parents go to bed just to play more. The only reason i'm not still there is because my parents cared enough to realize it. They set a limit on my grades, so that if under 80's, i couldn't play. I got a 79 on bio and was grounded from xbox for 2 months. At first it was unbearable, the thought of playing cod wold get me pissed. That's when i realized, it's an addiction. I joined track and field, and that got my mind off of it, and got girls interested in me. Now i'm on football, i have a steady supply of females coming and going from my life, and i'm living life like every other 16yo.

Goku, you kind of hit it right on the dot. I'm completely afraid of rejection. No idea why, I've thought about it a lot. Roddy, no offense taken lol. Believe it or not, im actually not as large as my chubby cheeks make me look. It's just something that runs in the family. I mean, sure I could lose a bit of weight, but honestly, I look completely average compared to your normal kid who excercizes. But yea, sadly I'd agree that it's more or less looks. Some time next week I planned on starting running to lose weight, then finding a routine to add muscle. It's a real bitch to work off personality when a lot of my male friends are good looking >.< And Bladebro, it's not like I completely limit my life to ONLY videogames. I mean, on weekends I never play. I go camping every weekend to a place Ihave a seasonal site at (not really camping, more like I'm in a 40 foot 5th wheel, surround sound, etc XD) and I have LOTS of female friends. Just very few I'm interested in. Hopefully improving my body boost my self confidence a little. Plus, as lame as it sounds, I have braces. I get them off in October though. Those really shot down my self esteem as well, considering I didn't even need them. My parents decided to spend 5 grand so that ONE frigggin tooth lines up with the rest.

You lack self-confidence if your scared of rejection. Now think of it like this - how many 1000's of other people have been rejected? Tonnes! Go to Youtube and search for Fat Girl Gets Rejected. I'm sure that'll cheer you up. After watching the video think - if she's ok, I must be ok!
