Am I really that hopeless?

Ok so, after some with my friends, I came to a sad conclusion. Videogames>life for me. I don't know why. Videogames are like fucking crack to me. I'd rather be playing my xbox than attempting to hook up with girls (dont get me wrong, I constantly think about girls, I just lack self confidence). It get's to the point where my parents harass me about it. "Shaun, don't you wanna go hang with your friends?", "Shaun, shouldn't you be out finding a girlfriend?" Uhh...duh! I'd love to have a girlfriend, because I feel like she would be able to fix this problem for me by giving me something to occupy myself with. The problem is, I'd rather be playing xbox than finding a girlfriend. Am I really that pathetic? Is anyone else like this?

EDIT: Lol, apparently some people are misunderstanding me.

1) I'm not gay
2) I dont literally live for videogames. I socialize as much as the next 19 year old does.
3)I don't let them interfere with my life. I have a stable job, family, etc. It's just that any free time monday-friday is spent socializing and playing on Xbox. Weekends are always no play days, my own little rule.
4) After a lot of thinking about it, it just seems to be the fear of rejection stopping me from getting a girlfriend. The fact that Xbox is fun coupled with my low self confidence can do wonders in terms of keeping me off the dating scene! Now don't get me wrong. I've fooled around before. It's just that when I find a girl who I think is right, I can never work up the nerve to ask her out.

Maybe you're just not looking for a serious relationship. It's perfectly natural. I don't want a relationship at this time too. Just move on. But you really should stop playing too much games though.

You'll probably get bored of the games eventually, that's what happened to me. Try and limit yourself though. Don't force yourself to go out to meet people, but try and find something else to occupy your time.

I DO want a relationship though. I'm 19 and never had a serious relationship because I'd rather just be playing games or goofing around with friends. Sure, it doesn't help that I really don't like any girls in my area, but I want nothing more in life right now than having a girlfriend.

You say you don't want one, but then you say you'd love to have one. You also said that you don't have one because of video games, and then you contradicted yourself again by saying it's because of lack of self confidence.

I don't know HOW you could even want a video game over a woman. You don't need to have some serious relationship to hang out with a girl and have a good time.

Just work on your confidence and ask your friends to introduce you to a girl, or take you somewhere to find a girl.

You're not bad looking. If you have a good personality and sense of humour, I'm sure you could find a girlfriend without a problem. Xbox is just a phase in your life right now, and you'll grow out of it and find that there's better things in life.

hah personality is what i make my living on. Too bad girls in my area don't go for personality :\ Some do, but not the ones I'm interested in. Hopefully you're right about the phase, although I doubt it I was introduced to gaming at 2 years old since my mom, grandfather, and both uncles played shit such as sega, snes, etc. I was born and raised on gaming. I don't really let it interfere with real life such as my job and whatnot....it's just that any time not spent working or whatnot is used up in my basement on the xbox >.<

Personality actually is what helps you a lot with girls.

If you are funny, confident, you can find plenty of beautiful women willing to give you their number, or even go on a date eventually.

I know what you mean, it is confusing talking to girls at first. it's awkward for a lot of men and quite honestly some men never get laid(well never is an exaggeration, but you know..)

Also, i'm the same age as you, and really it's just a matter of growing up. Get away from the games, it's nothing that can benefit you in anyway and World of Warcraft I assure you will not get you laid.


Good luck though, man. I think if you just lay off the games and get yourself out there you'd find a girl in no time. You're not even a bad looking guy, but I know how it feels; when you don't leave the house, you don't find women.

I have an amazing sense of humor, im charming, witty, etc. It's confidence I lack lol. I think that's why I prefer xbox over finding a girlfriend. My xbox won't say no :S

Exactly. I mean to a certain extent you MUST need to have some sort of sexual spark in the relationship, it's so necessary.

I think you just need to regather your confidence and apply it on a girl though. Find a girl that looks nice and cute, and just give your hand at it.

Honestly it can hurt a lot when you've got rejected a few times, but when you think back to it after learning from your mistakes it's really funny.

You don't have to sacrifice one to have the other. Look at Brodie in Mallrats. He played video games while in bed with his girlfriend . Chicks don't care about that shit, if you make em feel good, that's all they want. Haha.

If you're looking for a one night stand type of thing, go to a party, get a little buzz, and just chill and talk to drunk girls. Or you can go to a club with your friends, but you HAVE to be the alpha male.
