Am I doing anything right?

So here's what I usually do when I smudge:


Does the smudging look at all decent, and does it look applicable?

 

looks more like a mishmash then a piece. try out diffrent settings and brushes. keep it up =)

 

The smudges are decent. Better than I can do, but the green doesn't work. Maybe try a maroon or possibly a purple/brown color.

 

Any ideas on how to apply this? :S

 

Ok, tried some more smudging earlier (was pressed on time, so didn't do too much with it)





Personally prefer the one on the left, but I know I can still improve. Will definitely keep practicing though, and eventually get this into a tag
