show a users pending reports

Displays pending reports or account status (trusted, admin, middleman etc)
would cause a lot less scams if you could see current reports for that user just by going to their profile page.

 

Just check RASC before trading with a user if you are going first to them

That would be a negative thing overall as several trusted users get framed or reported as an imposter scams them etc. Ranks are already displayed anyways.

 

The pending reports would direct you to the report thread, If there's insufficient evidence to support the report claim then the report would just be removed and leave the user with 0 current reports. Once you see the report thread you would be able to decide whether you trust the user you are trading with. I don't see how being able to see current reports a user has can be a bad thing.

Would also be beneficial as going through reports can be time consuming and often can take days to ban a user. The community will be able to caution other users effectively rather than having a report thread that will rarely get attention from anyone that isn't a moderator.

 

You can also just go to report a scammer with the same amount of effort & us not having to completely change the system to work like that

 

I'm not saying there is a problem with the current method of reporting users. Just the viewing of reports on a user may not be the most simple thing to a new user whom is less likely to be scammed if there's a trade caution on the users profile with a link to the cause of the report. Speaking from personal experience so other new members may find the current system simple of course.

 

Exactly this. I don't support because of the amount of people that get scammed by imposters/wrong skypes etc.

 

Yeah I was only thinking from a steam POV. I get how this could be inconvenient for rs users but I think if a system similar to what I'm proposing could be developed it would be very beneficial to users unfamiliar with sythe.

Talk about the amount of business it would ruin for the big gold sellers though. Someone simply posting a scam report could mean a massive reduction in trades, considering a lot of sythe players check the RAS section before trading with anyone.

 

Perhaps the reports wouldn't be displayed for anyone who is a verified buyer/seller. I'm not sure how it would be applied. In SR moderators/admins don't have reports displayed and false reports are dealt with fast for legitimate users.

 

The idea is just not worth implementing because of the "you are at x level within the community" labels you mention. Sythe's not going to verify people like this.

 

I'll be harsh, this isn't going to be implemented. There are only 2 pages of reports, usually 1. If there is a report that indicates someone is an active threat to the community a precautionary ban will be dealt until its resolved. It'd take a bit of development, and it has very limited benefit with some potential downfalls. If someone doesn't care to look at the active reports, there unlikely to check any pending reports in the new system.

 

Too many drawbacks compared to benefits. Check the RaSc section periodically . You should always background check trades anyways.
