Alerts for quotes?

I would never use this but it sounds like a pretty nice idea for those who don't check up on their posts anyway.

 

Just about every other forum on the internet, even the very basic Chinese boards (Slight exaggeration there). It's actually pretty simple, it's relative to the @Username that is generated in quoting which would be "Originally Posted by Username123" on this forum.

But as the other admin said, this probably won't be implemented quiet simply because it's a non-essential update that would require time/effort which some would consider needless, can't think of any other reason. ^_^

 

Could we get a word from anyone with the power to do so? Maybe a "If you do..." or something?
I just want an update on progress

 

I like this idea, but I doubt admins would implement it considering its not really necessary, still a good idea though if any admin has spare time to make.

I definitely support this suggestion. I use it on almost every forum I'm registered on and I'd like to see this implemented on Sythe.

 

I suggested this and people just flamed and said to subscribe to every thread, where I think the system that mmoexchange has is a lot more efficient.

 

Are there guidelines for how many supports we need? Or is it just free post count?

 

It can have from 0 to 1000 supports, it's up to the staff if the suggestion will be approved or not.

 

I could definitely see this being used for the benefit of preventing fake vouches. I wouldn't want it to be clogging up my pm box though, is there anyway it could be implemented in a way a poke would work in teamspeak?

 

According to the links I put earlier, it would only notify you if they clicked the quote button, not if they post it quoted.
It would only spam you if you don't delete or buy services spastically

I would like to have this to see what other people are saying about my thoughts on threads I may have not subscribed to.

 

This is like that whole notifications thing on some other sites where it lets you know when someone has responded to you(through quoting obviously), right?

If so, I support. Useful if you actually post around some places and are gone by the time you were expecting to get replies, then later on forget about said posts, lol. Yeah, some of you probably have crazy memories, but I know this has happened to me on plenty of occasions. =p

 

If it wouldn't affect it, might as well open it up for the other members who WOULD use it and would benefit from the expansion.

 

caraudio has notifications for pms/post quotes/mentions

the more familiar w8baby/gamersoul has mentions (@Burny) would notify me.

I find the ability to tag a user to a thread extremely useful. For example you want a specific mod to see a specific thread. Just tag them.

You want to link a user to your account selling thread. Just tag them.

You want to bring someone back to a thread that they have essentially "left." Tag them.

Post quote notifications work the same but are a little bit more limited.

I've been looking in to a vBulletin mod that allows this, but it's difficult to find one that's compatible with the version we use since it's quite outdated. If I do manage to find something though, I'll definitely put this idea forward to Matthew and Sythe.

 

Would be so amazing to have this and be notified easier.

It's still in beta but I think it probably could be made usable by the time we upgrade to VB4 and make it compatible anyways. No matter waht this will have to wait for vb4, it's absolutely pointless not to
