For the youtube part how would we not reach people once we began promoting different game adventures played by people on sythe it would represent us as a gaming community that would attract other gamers.

Sythe is a community forum + Gaming Black Market.

If Sythe was a game discussion forum I could see the reason to post a youtube, but that's not what Sythe is.. There's nothing to put into a video for Sythe.. Not enough to launch a YouTube to help advertise at least.

I could understand a Sythe community channel on the other hand though.. I'm not entirely sure what this would comprehend of, but nonetheless, I don't think youtube advertising is the best way to go. Most YouTube advertisements aren't based entirely around a channel, their stuffed in. If we could get some kind of shout outs or something from some youtubers, I could see that working, but I couldn't see an entire channel dedicated to Sythe. It just wouldn't work.

How is the site not a gaming discussion forum when we're multibased? The forum is diverse, regressing from RuneScape.

Look at the activity and you've already answered your own question.

Sythe can never succeed beyond a black market. You can't just randomly try and put all of these things in one and thing it'll work. Granted, RS has a decent general discussion area, but does it really compare to fan sites like zybez, tip.it, etc?

If somebody wanted to talk about xbox gaming, their going to go to sites SOLELY dedicated to that.. Their going to go to sites to talk to people who know what their talking about.. Sythe knows RS, and that's what we thrive at. I don't see any kind of way to promote ourselves via YouTube, simply for the fact that there's nothing to advertise.. I could see somebody throwing up a youtube video (somebody who already has an RS rep) about the community for trading, but we aren't prepared for something like that.. To attract complete randoms with a large crowd requires a lot of guides to give them a know how..

I can say, speaking only on my own behalf, that joining Sythe wasn't easy to join into the market.. If we promoted ourselves via YouTube being a RS Black Market, we'd be flooded with account scams left and right.. The only thing we'd want to be able to promote is Gold Sales, Fire Capes/Kilns/Other User Services, and Upgrades.. The only people this benefits is marketers, and since marketing on Sythe is free, it just wouldn't work.

Tl;dr - Sythe youtube advertising won't work because we're a black market site and black marketing can't be promoted without being flooded by things we're trying to get rid of. You can't advertise things like WoW, Xbox, etc all in one place (gaming videos), because there's already separate sites dedicated to things like this (with people who know what their talking about).

Punker why are you arguing against this? Maybe Bat isn't working with the best forms of advertisement, but it's still a hell of a lot more than anyone else is doing. If you think it can be done better, than do it, but until you put in the same time, effort, and energy Bat has put in to this, just stop.

You are trying to come up with all these different points for what? To make Bat say "Ok I'll stop"? What is that going to accomplish? That will accomplish nothing. Nothing will get done. At least he is doing his best to do SOMETHING for Sythe.

Every website should be working to gain more users every day. Yes this will cause more scams to occur, but that's why we have a staff isn't it? That's like saying there should only be 1 Chinese restaurant in the world because if there were more, more people would get food poisoning. Larger amounts of problems result from larger amounts of people, that's just how statistics work. That doesn't mean it's going to ruin the site! If there was an increase in that, then more staff would be promoted to handle it. That's how it works, you can't avoid it in any way. It's not going to be different if we're advertising in one place or another, an increase in users results in an increase in things such as scams, and that's unavoidable.

So now that you understand that, hopefully you can think clearly and realize that Bat is doing his best to help the site, and all you are doing is trying to get him to stop.

and theres also diverse forums just like ours that have more activity yet operate the same way as us. arguing this site is nothing more then a market is cretinous. we're more then a market we just advertise the market strongly whereas forgetting we have other aspects to the site. if people concentrated more on these (admins) and wanted to grow the opportunity is there.

Yeah but there are also people who have different interest that are all shared in the same place. I do understand where you are coming from and ask why can't we add a little more of gaming community into it. Everytime someone finds a fun little new game at least in the irc we all join in and play and talk about it. We have a nice little gaming community why not just try to expand what we have?

You didn't argue against any of the points I made, you just simply tried to make me into the bad guy. I clearly stated that I was for numerous things, just against others. This is the suggestion section, is criticism and feedback not required here anymore? Why am I the bad guy because I don't think we should advertise a specific way? I think something should be done about advertising, but AS VERTS ALREADY SAID, it needs to be done properly. I was voicing out my opinions.. You're supposed to dish back feedback and argue them against me if you think I'm wrong, but that's not what you're doing at all.. You're simply trying to make me out to be the bad guy because I'm trying to argue my points across.. From what I've always seen in the suggestion section, you're supposed to state what you think is rational to reach the ultimate best conclusion.

We are a market.. I was never opposed to adding in new sections, but I don't think we should try to focus on advertising new sections when they are dead right now.. We should advertise things that have priority, the market. Why should we do this instead of advertising via YouTube dead sections? If somebody comes to our forum, goes into say, the D3 section.. What do you think their going to find? Do you think their going to find something that's appealing to them at all? No, they aren't. The sections are dead for a reason. If we advertise dead sections solely, we aren't going to get any responses.. The ultimate goal here is to make Sythe as active as possible. The key way to do that is to promote things that people who come to Sythe are actually interested.. Almost every market site has it's own general discussion for that specific game, and only that game ever really gets discussed about.. Take OwnedCore for example. OwnedCore thrives off blizzard games. They have a RuneScape section.. It's completely dead. It's the exact opposite of us in terms of blizzard games and runescape.. We have a booming runescape section, but a failed blizzard related section.

Do the games in the IRC ever actually make it to Sythe forums? To my knowledge, there was never a hax ball discussion forum.. The sections we have now aren't dedicated to what games are hot in the IRC, their dedicated to major games (blizzard games, swtor, gw2, etc).

People will go to the forums that they deem as fit for certain things. We aren't going to grab any new people from YouTube to join our other games sections by promoting them.. I would say let's promote Runescape on YouTube, but I don't think that'd be very successful, so I'm not going to bother.

General speaking:

I sincerely would love to see more advertising going through Sythe, but I don't think this is the proper way to do it.. This general idea is good, but like I've said numerous times, I think it should be stuck to Facebook + Twitter and it should be admin ran. Successful advertising via these websites doesn't involve just having an amazing page, it's much more than that.. Verts was completely correct on the aspect that "Social media communities have to be established and managed in very specific ways".

To gain people from these methods of advertising you can't just simply make the pages, you have to launch them and manage them properly. This is what I've been trying to outline this entire time.. I doubt me and verts have the same ideals as to how it all works, but I think I've outlined enough reasons as to why it should be ran the way I've explained.. If you still don't believe me, I don't know what there is else to say. I can't go into more details now.

I won't be responding to any more posts/replies.
