Addiction to Shoplifting...

I believe that it's an addiction if it's for the rush.. if that makes sense?
It's just doing what you need to do if it's for the money. Although I don't support it.

 

People get a thrill from shoplifting, and anyone can get addicted to a thrill.

Does your friend steal things that he needs/wants? or is it just random items which he feels the urge to steal. Because if it is objects which he would really like but cannot afford, then maybe getting a job would be a good idea - the ability to spend/work for an object might keep him busy + in return reward him with the items he is after.

 

no there is no addiction to shopllifting unless you do it serveral times and crave it..

 

I was shooting a video in a local supermarket that had no cameras. I had no money and i was hungry as beJebus, so... I put a $4 Lindt Pistachio Chocolate Bar in my pants and walked out. hunger was gone.

 

The actual shoplifting part is not the addiction. He has an addiction that just makes him feel he needs to take certain things, which leads to him shoplifting.

 

its not really an addiction as a thing you have to do to survive but i think alot of people do it for fun and it becomes a main source of their fun and begin to think they dont need to work and have a job and make money to get things and thats where problems come in really and they go to jail and such..

This, only way to kick an addiction is self control.

Only the person who has the addiction can decide whether he/she can stop.

Things keep going missing in my house, my DS games, lego and more, and I suspect my little brothers friend. Either he has this addiction or hes just a prick. I don't know what to say to him tbh as I have no evidence...

 

Lay a trap when he comes over. Put a tiny piece of paper in a corner of your drawer or something. Get creative.

 

No, it's not an addiction. It's a choice. A wrong choice. One that people make even though they know it leads to nowhere good.

Anyone who shoplifts for a thrill or whatever reason they do it will get no sympathy from me since I work in retail and they steal our stock. Its immoral and not acceptable.

 

i was just tempted to steal something about an hour ago. its not hard to steal from these places at all. i can see how you'd get addicted. but in the long run you'll get caught eventually

 

i dont agree with shoplifting and would never think of doing it. Your friend needs to learn self control while in shops i suppose..

 

I stole when I was little won't lie. I guess I could understand that people MAY and can be addicted to this due to the obvious adrenaline rush if you stole before you would know that you get a rush and the kinda scared feeling you'll get caught, so I guess people love that feeling which causes them to shoplift or maybe they just like free st00f lol.

 

I had a friend who used to shoplift a lot, and it took them a few arrests and therapy before they kicked the habit. Now he mainly shops online.
